Rune Priest Confusion

hey all - this may be a silly question but if i 'buy' Master of Runes for my rune priest does he get to use 2 powers per turn or just 1 because i looked in the rule book and it said 'may use as many powers per turn as has shooting attacks' so is that 1 because he has a pistol or 2 because he has master?

also if i can only use 1 per turn IF he was on a bike would he be able to use 2 due to the bikes TLB or just 1 again just with better Toughness etc - im pretty sure it would just be pistol or bolters but just want to verify

can anyone help me become un-confused?

With Master of the Runes, you can use two powers, HOWEVER you are still bound by the normal rules, i.e. you can only make one shooting attack, psychic or otherwise, in a turn, unless other rules specifically over-ride this (Dreadnoughts/Vehicles/Tau Battlesuits/Eldar Farseers/etc.).

So you could case one power specifically mentioned as a "psychic shooting attack" (i.e. Living Lightning), as well as a second power with Area of Effect or buffing, but that is not listed as a "psychic shooting attack" (i.e. Stormcaller).

True. But as the RP has so many shooty powers the master of runes isnt great. Plus with slightly nerfed stats and no storm shield he will get easily outclassed by HQs worth draining dry with force weapon. Wounds demons on a 2+...if he survives their higher Initiative attacks that are likely power hits.

keep him cheap, basic. Then play pop n zap in a rhino with a cheap shooty GH squad. No need for master of runes at all.
