Fangtastic 4 - Should we max out on HQs?

So many great heroes to choose from, and a whole 4 slots. But is that a slippery slope to a top heavy defeat, or a quartet of power for the win

If you go basic then you can still get the best out of all. The heavy hitting special characters should not be used in 4s unless its apoc. But with so many options with the homebrews I think you can put together a decent band of heroes.

At 1850 i'm playtesting:

WL with claw, SS, jump pack, warrior born (goes with 10 man skyclaws)

WP with jump pack (goes with 10 man skyclaws)

RP with living lightning & hurricane

RP with JotWW & living lightning

Thats 535pts and over a quarter of the total points on 4 models. crazy stuff.

But thankfully the rest of the codex is dirt cheap. How viable this is remains to be seen, but the option is there to take 4 HQs so is worth a run out. I'll be running this with 3 long fang packs of 5 heavy bolters each. Its fun to play test.

If you're keeping them cheap and in relatively large (1850+) games then it could work.

The most i've ever fielded is 2, 2 rune priests, either that or a wolf lord normally.

I've always been tempted at bringing 4 rune priests though, for 400 points basic it might be worth it, though I normally play 1500 and its a little to charcter heavy at that points value for me.

I per 750, rounding down or up as my mood dicatates- Ill run a full 4 just shy of apocalypse. I feel more than that is probly asking for trouble if I give them anything more than basic equipment.... and I like the freedom to customize my HQs.

I've ran 3 Rune Priests in my latest games, and it worked wonders. One of them is a Master of Runes, and they all have a Chooser.

3 Runic Weapons means that is becomes quite easy to shut down lists that rely heavily on Psychic powers, such as Seer Council or Eldrad Eldar, Double Lash Chaos...

I plan to test a list with a 4th RP, in a GH Rhino like the others and a 4th Living Lightning ;)

That system seems pretty familiar...

In normal games (1700-2000), it's possible if you can keep the costs down. But you inevitably end up sacrificing in other parts of your list, so you have to be very careful.

I currently run with 3, but my Wolf Lord runs almost 200. I could run 4 bare bones wolf/rune priests, but I find that they lack the CC punch of a lord.
