Wolf Guard Nostromo Posted November 20, 2009 Share Posted November 20, 2009 I'll throw my thoughts in: I'd admit to being no maths buff, but I just haven't enjoyed much success with powerfist GH in the new codex. I fully accept the limitations of MoW, and have experimented with many different combos both on the GH and wgpls, but in my experience the 25 point investment just isn't worth it for 2 attacks first round (usually) and 1 thereafter. I do still use them though... mainly in units with no wg or where I have some odd points to spare (2 special weapons/MoW/PF is a formidable fighting force). I think my main preference for MoW is for keeping GH as cheap as possible while remaining effective and because I love creating the more feral looking models. I wouldn't, however, profess for a second that MoW is more effective - it just seems to fit my play style better. My other reason is my preference for combi-weapon/double strength weapon wolf guard who I use as pack leaders. Very effective little group they are too - A Grey Hunter with a powerfist costs 40 points (and does allow you a free special weapon if you go 10 man rather than wolfguard) while a combi weapon/powerfist pack leader is 43. Hmm... Not much difference. At the end of the day, as has been said previously, it all comes down to how you use them. For me, I go without GH powerfists 90% of the time and I don't either regret it or lose very often. If you do this however, you have to be aware of your packs limitations.
