Dan The Deamon
Well if you're playing chaos termis with Deathwing rules than your question is better off being asked in the Dark Angles forum. People here will give you good advice from a chaos perspective, or maybe even a DA one, but you're better off going over there. Oh and, i wouldn't tell them you're on our side : ) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/184316-dreadnought/#findComment-2178684 Share on other sites
bimpi
I made a mistake and wrote "with" insteed of "against"... of course I'm playing chaos space marines. SORRY :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/184316-dreadnought/#findComment-2178997 Share on other sites
Seahawk
A dreadnought with a plasma cannon does wonders in reducing squads to nothing. Even your own! Hence, keep it away from your troops and closer to his. Otherwise, dreadnoughts are quite useful for guarding flanks. CuznP
Hence, keep it away from your troops and closer to his. Why keep it away from your troops? Just keep your dudes out of its arc of fire. I like the Plasma Dread! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/184316-dreadnought/#findComment-2179416 Share on other sites
Seahawk
Unless it's immobilized, a dreadnought's fire arc is technically 360 degrees, as per page 72 of the BRB. No way to stay out of that! Daeghrefn
Nothing drops loyalist terminators like a plasma template... except a chaos vindicator template! I totally agree with that. I've really seen nothing to convience me otherwise (unless you just kind of ignor some of the RAW). No way to stay out of that! you couldn't be more wrong. Nowhere in the rule book does it say the it's fire arc is 360. In fact what it does say is that it's 45. you can choose a target to pivot towards that's 360, but in the case or Fire Frenzy, your target is chosen for you, therefor not 360. It's a totally different sequence of shooting and is actually the RAW. Moress
Can't a dread that's immobilied pivote anyway since it doesnt count as moving, rather the dread turning at it's torso? Brother Nihm
Please take the actual rule discussion to this topic As for if a Dread is worth, many will say no simply because of the Frenzy rule. It's a unit you do not have control over 33% of the time and they can hurt your men. I am of the belief that dual CCW dreadnoughts aren't bad per se, there's simply better options in the codex that synergize better with the basic units in the list, so taking the Dreads isn't very efficient. Dreadnoughts fall under the category - 'fun units'. Take them if you like the model(s)/want to include a wild element in your list. For competitive play, don't take them.
