Terminatorinhell
Here is My version of Rogal Dorn, He was given to me as a gift from Brother Richard (thank you very much) and I have slightly modified him. 1. I replaced his weak looking thunder hammer with a huge chainsword. 2. I added a cape and Tabard 3. I changed the fist cover. 4. I made the chest plate more like the art on the card. Also is it just me or does his face look like a mix of George Clooney and Sean Connery? http://i36.tinypic.com/2881ag3.jpg http://i37.tinypic.com/2cd8znt.jpg http://i37.tinypic.com/2mo9lll.jpg http://i34.tinypic.com/2vuezqw.jpg Scale Shot with Ryoto(big dude) and Pallas(Apothecary) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/184335-rogal-dorn/ Share on other sites

Hal
The issue is that you haven't asked for Comment and Criticism so I guess people won't reply if they think there is something that could be improved. Lycaeus Wrex
H'oooookey dokey, constructive criticism... Before I go into detail I have to say that I don't particularly like this piece. Your skill at painting will evolve with time and practise, but eve so I would recommend having a mooch at various highlighting/shading tutorials to try and make the model look a little less 'flat'. Also, I would recommend thinning your paints down. As it stands it looks rather thick, and a couple of thin layers will give you a much nicer finish than one thick one. The only trade-off is the amount of time you would have to put in to achieve such a finish but, well, this is Rogal Dorn we're on about here! My main criticisms are probably more subjective but I really, really, really do not like the colour scheme. The gold clashes horribly with the red and the greyish silver on the skulls doesn't work too well either. Obviously you've wanted to go with a more regal paint scheme but in this humble poster's opinion, in really doesn't work. Also the main focal point of the model is the chest which...I also don't like. It looks un-natural, and the lack of detail when compared to the rest of the model makes it look rushed and incomplete. My only recommendation would be to remove it and find something suitable in a plastic (or indeed metal) kit to replace it with. I'm sorry that I haven't had much positive to say, but I think that with a more eye-friendly paint job, and a re-invented chestpiece this model could be really rather special, and a nice centerpiece for an Imperial Fist force. Terminatorinhell
Unfortunately, the chest and most of the body was one piece, but I can fix the sculpting over it, and what do you recommend as a color set for him? Did he actually wear yellow? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/184335-rogal-dorn/#findComment-2179311 Share on other sites
