Raynar
How do you distinguish Chosen CSM from ordinary CSM? Are there something that they normally have that normal CSM doesn't have Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/184337-chaos-chosen/ Share on other sites
Dràyhèn
Extra ammo belts, different heads, posing, kill marks, extensive battledamage, little color changes, chains, spiked shoulder pads and like that :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/184337-chaos-chosen/#findComment-1930602 Share on other sites
Brother Nihm
-You could make them more ornamented, both modelling and paintjob wise. -I plan to have my chosen use the same (skull) shoulderpad on the right shoulder. -More trophies/Kill markings -Truescale I truescaled a test model for one of my Chosen like this, Edit: Dràyhèn has it. sorcererkatax
yeah not too hard, just make them look more chaosy (sp?) and more ornate with skulls or markings from any particular Icon they may have. WarpWhisper
As an Alpha Legion player, my chosen have DA hooded heads and robes, representing their Infiltrate ability. I bit Legion specific, I know, but it can cross over to others.... Cornelias
possessed torsos and leg are pretty much perfect with a splattering of spiky bitz, just add in plenty of normal csm stuff to distinguish them from actual possessed ^_^ Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/184337-chaos-chosen/#findComment-1931114 Share on other sites
Mutt-Man!
Chaosy=Chaotic I represent my chosen with bladed knee pads and hook-blades on their wrists to act as their close combat weapons, pistol in one hand and bolter in the other. THese bits stem from my dark eldar, but you can chop down any plastic frame the models come with, just slice diagonal and shave away until your satisfied. Longer blades on the pistol side of the model for counterbalance is also fun to look at. My dark eldar are thankful to not have their spikey parts anymore, they dont snag on my sleeves during winter gaming.. alexwars1
Get the CSM frame, Spawn frame, Dark Angel frame, Possessed frame, clip off all components, place in sack, pour glue in, beat with hammer for three minutes. Hobo Willie
I wasn't going to do anything to distinguish them, really. If I field some Chosen, I'm going to designate them as Chosen and if my opponent complains about an inability to tell them apart from the rest of my force, my response will be "And that's why they are sneaky..." Fausto2071
a pretty basic way is just to color their helmets a metallic~of course with all those spikey bits you can make some pretty horrifying guys~those small hooks on the chaos vehicle sprue are pretty good btw Nihm, where are the torso and leg from? DuskRaider
Go with flavor! My Death Guard are in their Pre-Heresy colors of white and green (olive), albeit rusted and decayed. For my Chosen, their armour is completely rusted, giving them an almost orange color. Their trim is brown. My forthcoming World Eaters are similar. Colors are Pre-Heresy white and blue with dried blood all about them. However, their chosen are in what we consider the classic World Eaters colors, Red and Brass. Play with cool schemes and modeling ideas, if your enemy knows their background they'll get it. Zeruel
Chosen stand out just fine on the tabletop. Those 5 guys with meltaguns? Yeah, they're Chosen. Yeah kind of hard to mistake a bunch of guys infiltrating our outflanking with a crap load of special weapons. For the record though for my Night Lords army the Chosen are the only ones with the bat winged helmets. MasterOfDisaster
What i have for my Black Legion Chosen is very simple. i just have their shoulderpad color (Shining Gold) as their headpiece color. very simple way to distinguish this. juggernot
In my next game I was going to see how they feel to me and how they can play on the table, when the thought occurred to me, I have never seen models for the chaos chosen. Any thoughts on what I could use for chosen? Or what is accepted in a tournament since GW doesn't seem to have models for them. Should I just convert some normal CSM? Drudge Dreadnought
Chosen are made by converting and kitbashing normal marines. Normally a mix of chaos marines, possessed, and spawn bits. minigun762
People use the robes from the BT and DA kits as well, works especially well for Word Bearers. You could use the bionic bits from the IH kit if its still around. Sception
There are many ways, some already mentioned: DA robed bodies - great for Word Bearers, Alpha Legion, Fallen Possessed Bits - great for Black Legion, Night Lords Legion-Specific helmets - Great for the legions that have them - Night Lords and Iron Warriors iirc. check the GW website to see if you can order these. Legion-Specific Sholder Pads - these exist for most legions, check the GW website to see if you can order them for yours. Great to mark out chosen, unless you decide to use them for all of your marines. Truescale conversion - good for any legion Mixed Cult Marine bits - good for aligned legions, or Black Legion chosen with aligned marks Extra Spikey - good for any legion Mixed in Fantasy Marauder bits (heads, pelts) - good for any legion, particularly khorne themed Mixed in fantasy Warrior heads - good for any legion Paint Job change (golden helmets, etc) - good for any legion Basing Change (tall grass/rubble/etc) - good for any legion, helps reinforce 'infiltration' aspect Nothing - I don't like this option, since I view it as a missed opportunity for some cool modeling or painting, but there's usually not too much confusion about telling chosen from normal marines due to their special rules and equipment options, and not going out of your way to distinguish them allows you to use the same models as CSMs in other games.
