Hey Zsouless,

That black Templar look's amazing. Very good GS skill's. If you are worried about the chest piece being covered up and you still want to show an emblem, I would suggest putting a Black Templar crest on one of the shoulder's. It would show to people your GS-fu and you will see some of the details you put into the model without picking it up and looking at it. Or you could give your boltgun's a mini BT crest.

Thanks Guys!

Oooh! A couple of small Black templar Icons for Bolters and Such!!... ill have to get to work on them.

@Sepsis the Unclean: Greenstuff and milliput just dont make Good Molds.. I don't care what anyone else tells you it just doesn't cure rigid enough.. I use Sculpey Its readily accessible, Cheap, and it Bakes Solid in a Matter of minutes in your Oven...

For the scale stamps I took a small square of plasticard and drew a picture of the size and shape of the Item I wanted and chopped odd shapes out for the Scales..

http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff70/Zsoulless/IMG_6536.jpg

this is a failed attempt, not in technique, but the scales where a tad small and didn't look right with my friends style of Paint..

Something Like lets say a Knee-Pad should have around 5 scales I would assume..

Dont try to get a stamp from a non flat surface.. It can be done.. but at the loss of detail.. GS is Very malleable it can be formed to the shape of what ever you need after the fact.. Besides its easier to build or sculpt any item you wish to get a stamp of on a flat surface so its really a no brainer..

And while you wont need Lube to make your Molds you will need it to keep the GS from sticking to your mold..

Hope that Helps!

If you have anymore questions Feel free to ask..

Hes still needs a few touches Before I move onto His power-pack and Bolter.. and I need to figure out a Base design..

Anyhow.. Tell me what you think!

That is an extremely pretty templar initiate. I would be extremely interested to know how you did the 'white' on the shoulder pads.

I'm not a huge fan of painted battle damage, I prefer some actual gashes taken out of the plastic, but otherwise an extremely nice paint job!

Cheers for that, just ordered it - only £1.50 not bad. I'll give it a whirl as soon as it arrives.

Also your Templar is looking impressive I think all the beige / bleached bone is very well shaded and the black is subtly highlighted (some people tend to go overboard when highlighting black). Congratulations on your work so far......

It would be a shame to cover that chest up. Maybe you could make his hand holding the bolter lowered and stick a grenade in his other hand?

P.S I frikkin love you Space Wolf!! I can almost smell the ale on his breath!

EDIT: Hmmm didn't realise this thread had 2 pages! I was talking about the (At the time) unpainted templar. Oh well <_<

Any Time Sepsis! Tell me how it goes..

@Brother Loring: Using a wet Pallet and mixing my colors between the application of a new color. My whites consist of Graveyard Earth, Kommando Khaki, to Skull White.. The three colors Blend really well and that allows me to clean or dirty up a White area as much as I like and still maintain consistency form character to character...

I just dont have it in me to attack a mini with an exacto-blade.. If I go to far with Paint a few Minor touch up and no ones the wiser... No commitment necessary, Tho I still Drill and carve all my bullet holes.. certain damage just cant be faked (Well enough and By me)..

Cant seem to get good pics today.. No matter what I did I couldnt manage to get any of the dark grey tones to show up in his armor.. Just looks Pretty much like flat black in these Pics.. kinda bugs me Because I worked hard at getting a nice tonal quality out of the armor..

Funny thing is I really didnt know much about the Black Templars a few days ago.. But Ive since Gotten swept up in a lot of the stylized artwork.. Ive also managed to get my Hands on a codex and Ive started to sit down and do some reading..

Well.. I need to work out an appropriate Base and I could use the Help if anyone has any Ideas..

And as Always, Questions, Comments, and Criticisms are Welcome!

Only problem with templars is they chain their weapons to their hands.. they dont have pockets I assume.

Thats What you call commitment!...

The stone floor Idea may Work.. Ill try to mock something up...

I was half temped to use one of the 20mm Bases I designed to be used with my Iron Warriors..

http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff70/Zsoulless/IMG_6609.jpg

But I dont think the riveted metal gives the feel I want..

I Dont Know...

Any other Ideas..?

That Templar is stunning. Should post it over on the Black Templar forum just to let us all drool over it and ask you about every little detail. It is just so beautiful. Really makes me think of Black Templars back during the Third War for Armageddon where they didn't have their weapons chained to themselves.

I like to go with the cobble stone or tiles for basing on Templars... it just works so well for them. Can add some snow or dirt depending on your preference. That base you have made for the Iron Warriors looks great but I agree that it doesn't give the "right feel".

Looking forwarded to seeing more progress and I am stickying this thread so I can remember to come back and look at more of your stuff.

@ zsoulless I feel important now. ;)

That steel base looks really cool.

If I were you Id be tempted to use that as well. Also I've never seen steel bases with templars.

But you don't want the base to detract/distract from the mini..

Other captain obvious options are desert, snow, jungle. But I think monastery is the least distracting.. yet If I were you I do the steel ones anyway.. at least mock it up and show us eh?

Yogi

EDIT I also like your other marines of course.. including the ultra. Its rare to see them all gritty.

That's an awesome stone base. I previously tried to model some tiled floor with something similar to tile filler, but it can't be modeled anywhere nearly as nicely as GS. Yours is leagues better!

I agree with Messanger of Death - posting in the BT forum, perhaps with a bit of a 'how to...' would be nice, It's certainly one of the best BTs I've seen!

p.s. thanks for the white tutorial!

As for a "how to" Ill Always try my best to help Anyone Who Asks and answer any Questions They Have..

Or at least try to..

Sometimes I swear the gods that Be really don't want want me to build and army for the false emperor..

Right after I last posted here I was offered a boat load of chaos bits if I converted up some Salamanders and a number of bases... This has left me with little in the way of space marine bits.. I already have a bunch of Chaos Bits not to mention a pile of unopened boxes...

So the question was would I go out and spend more money on space marine bits..?

While doing my BT project I acquired a mass of art work I really love.. ALot of that art work is actually from the Daemon Hunters as well.. So Im now considering building some chaos marines Under the Guise of "the Reborn" as a Grey Knight Mockery army..

Heres a Mock up the of the Mockery... ((Aspiring Champion to be))

I think It will look better with a Polearm power weapon...

What do you think..?
