Grey Mage
So, Ive got a question for you- Im wanting to make conversions for Hugin and Munin, the ravens of Odin- as Wolf Gaurd. The idea has been in my head for a while, but up until now it was impossibleto have JP WG unless attached to a squad of BCs. That being said Im making them with identical bodies, different legs and arm poses, and identical wargear. I know I want to equip them with Lightningclaw and Stormshield. Im pretty sure I want them to have meltabombs as well. What Im not sure of is if I should give them Jumppacks *wich seems natural for bird-based models* OR to put them on bikes *wich are actually faster*. Theyll be running together, in a pack of 2.... or as a pair of WGBLs. Yes, I know its not the most horribly effective Idea Ive ever had, but Im wanting to hear your thoughts on this one. AdeptusDavidus
Jump packs look really, really cool, and you don't really see all that many Space Wolves with jump packs, so I'm going to put in my vote for them in jump packs, rather than on bikes. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/184401-hugin-and-munin/#findComment-2179257 Share on other sites
Evilmerlin
Bikes. Mainly because as a two model unit, you want them tough. and jump packs don't cut it. You could model wings or feathery stuff on the bikes anyway. Grey Mage
Well... that was another thing- T5 would certainly help them out a bit. If there was jetbikes in marine armies still thered be no question at all... *sighs*. Schertenleib
I've got a guy reading over my shoulder that is big on viking mythology. He's practically screaming SCOUTS! The ravens are Odin's "seekers of knowledge". They need to have the Scout and Infiltrate special rules. Grey Mage
Well, and thats a whole seperate issue- I already have both of them done up as PA footsloggers, each to go with a pack of scouts- but I dont want to have to use up all three of my elite slots to field them all the time. So this is when they are operating solo. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/184401-hugin-and-munin/#findComment-2180255 Share on other sites

Warhorse47
I'd run em as bikes. Makes it easy and bumps toughness. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/184401-hugin-and-munin/#findComment-2181134 Share on other sites

Ehgads these two are expensive. *sighs*. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/184401-hugin-and-munin/#findComment-2181581 Share on other sites
Sawtooth
If you run them on bikes a bunch of raven iconography and details might help out the theme. And maybe a big wing on their back in the style of Polish Winged Hussars. I think the Dark Angels line has some of those. Great idea, by the way. Schertenleib
Just a thought. As you are giving both SS/WC as wargear..... Have you thought about putting the WC on the right on one model and the left on the other? Have you thought about putting the WC on the right on one model and the left on the other? Yeah, actually right now Im looking at how to convert the new SS into a right handed SS. I also used an old Chestplate on one *the one with the triangular wolf pelt, and wolf relief* and a new on one theo there *pelt and scrollwork*. The one with the wolf Relief will be Hunnin, while the one with the scrollwork will be Munnin. Grey Mage
So how about some pictures already. Id love to... but that required a digital camera, and I dont own one. Im poor :). If I can find a tutorial about Cellphone Cameras going to the internet Ill try posting up some picks of the footsloggers. Marshal Wilhelm
Will you be doing the Norns? :) Allied Psyker Battle Squad but using Fantasy Empire Wizards, maybe from the Jade & Amber Colleges of magic? :D BTW I think Bikes will be fine for H&M, I don't think you have to be perfectly literal about making ravens into JP users. I know zealous SW might get a bit excited about the suggestion but *gulp* how about using the fancy bird related stuff from Ravenwing bikes? ;) The front and the banner would look good IMO, giving them the raven theme and when painted in SW colours; voila! master-piece! :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/184401-hugin-and-munin/#findComment-2181949 Share on other sites

Gods help me, theyll be read for apocalypse this sunday, even if they wont be painted. Norns... nah, thats three Eldar Farseers like myself. So.... Im thinking black helmets, with my standard green eyes. I dont suppose you know how to get cellphone pics on the net, do you Wilhelm? Marshal Wilhelm
Sorry bro, I am fairly computer inept.... :woot: I could be likened to an Imperial - best leave that sorcery to the tech-priests. Go and waylay some teen, after they regain consciousness, they'll have your picture on B&C in 5 minutes. ;) That was a joke.... don't really do it.... :D Have you thought of the UM honour guard eagle face helmets? - could be snazzy! Grey Mage
Nah, Im actually using a slightly modified Corvus helmet, and the "eagle" head backpack from the commander sprue- theyll look like ravens after the paintjob though. Grey Mage
I dont usually double post... but I wanted to share this. One of the speedbumps on this project, besides my indecisiveness, has been that all the right handed lighting claws in my battleforce suffered from... well not having blades. GW just sent me two boxes of PA SWs to fix it. golly! The guy on the phone was the friendliest, and I wasnt sure what was going on half the time... but I logged into my GW newsletter, and found that I had an order on the way... and there it was, two boxes of SWs. :cuss Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/184401-hugin-and-munin/#findComment-2183635 Share on other sites
dublindawg
If you have the ability to send pictures by text message you can also send the message to a personal email address that you can access on your PC. Or you if you have a facebook account, you can do the same thing.
