Lord Ragnarok
Agreed with Cain, I think in packs that are small they will be easy to kill off. antique_nova
ok, time for a question more focused on points fix. for 1500 points. if you say 4 squads of grey hunters. two squads of them were 5 men, without much. one was objective sitting and the other support role with a melta gun. all in rhinos. the other two squads however, are max squads with 2x melta guns each. one in land raider and the other a rhino. would you give both of these large squads the standard? of the one in the raider, or depending on points or for some other reason. thanks antique_nova Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/184441-why-wolf-standards/page/2/#findComment-2181125 Share on other sites
Kenmichi
In my opinion, the packs that cater to the Wolf Standard are packs geared for CC. I have 2 melee packs in my great company and both have a Wolf Standard. 1 pack has a hidden power fist and is led by a WG with a power fist. The other pack has a hidden power weapon, a MotW GH, and the WG has a frost axe and chainsword. These packs can, potentially, reap the benefits of a Wolf Standard. Think of it this way, the more dice you can roll the more 1s you can potentially roll. In that case the standard is worth it. I might even put a Wolf Standard in my tank hunting packs. Raulmichile
Wolf standards are very good in squads with a Wolf Lord or WGBL attached to it. Combined with a Wolftooth necklace it is simply almost impossible to miss a hit with this guys. Do the math and you will see the satandard will pay for himself with the boost it gives to the combat character, let alone the GH squad. Or against large hordes you can combo the standard with the warrior born saga and use the standard in the second round of combat, hehehe... Ten GH and a WGBL/Lord can eat 30 orks alive in two rounds! Edit: typo Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/184441-why-wolf-standards/page/2/#findComment-2181399 Share on other sites

Anyone who is considering a full boat DP/Rhino force with HQ/WG/GH would be a fool not to take a banner. And if your thinking DP and TDA for the HQ and WG all the better, pretty much assures no 2+ savable wounds on those 2 models in the first round of CC. You will be like plz plz throw all your attacks against my HQ. Arjac with a pack of GH and standard/MG is a cheap way to ensure he lives for at least 3 turns no matter what they throw at him.
