pauljamesog
G'day Guys, I've been playing about with Ron's great 'quick Deathwing' technique and have been pleased with the initial results I got with some old plastic Termies. I'm going to be using them for Space Hulk and am after a really gritty effect. http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d170/pauljamesog/WIP/DW_Sq1_Trooper.jpg http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d170/pauljamesog/WIP/DW_Sq1_complete.jpg the resin bases I got from Dragon Forge are coming along nicely too: http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d170/pauljamesog/WIP/ResinBaseTerm1.jpg But they are missing something.... In particular, I'm after some advice on painting armour chips, and how I can improve the eyes so they pop more. Comments welcomed! Many thanks! Angels_Blade
Very nice, I think they need a bit of red, like freehand symbols maybe? Can you post a link to the tutorial please? pauljamesog
Thanks Angels, not sure I'm up to freehand symbols though.... Ron's tutorial is here: FTW DW Tutorial which I copied along the way here: My DW Project Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/184446-deathwing-squads-for-space-hulk/#findComment-2179779 Share on other sites
Swordbrother
Yeah they defiantly need a little red, which will work great with all that dark green u got going on. Though there is no apparent spot to put that much (IMHO) needed red on, other than the skulls that I assume you haven't done yet. The eyes look great, but if you're up to it OSL pimp them out. I think they don't "pop" beacuse theyre light blue (almost turquoise) wish i pretty darn close to green, wish most other details are. All in all they look great, but a little red will make them pop and complete them color theory wise. good job! :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/184446-deathwing-squads-for-space-hulk/#findComment-2180430 Share on other sites
pauljamesog
Thanks for that Swordbrother. OK, I'm convinced about the red - I'll try some red Chapter Symbology on the right shoulderpad Do you mean the skulls on their belt beckle? Paint them red? What do you mean exactly by the OSL on the eyes? These guys are looking better on their bases now too: http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d170/pauljamesog/WIP/Based3.jpg http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d170/pauljamesog/WIP/Based2.jpg Note to self: Drill out the Storm Bolter barrels, looks silly. Otherwise they look good all posed up in the Hulk: http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d170/pauljamesog/WIP/InTheHulk.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/184446-deathwing-squads-for-space-hulk/#findComment-2180953 Share on other sites
pauljamesog
After a couple of disastrous attempts to free-hand the Chapter symbol, I went with decals in the end. There are now a shiny red which I need to dull down - but what else can I do red on these guys to help match in the new colour? It looks a bit out there with a new colour on one shoulder...
