Ensis Ferrae
hey B&C, i was rummaging through the closet where my unbuilt models are stored, and came across a box of Grey Knights, and thought i would paint them up, but also really work on some new things, painting wise. i am hoping to get feedback from you guys on how to improve these guys, and what is done "right" the only one i have photos of right now, is the Justicar, so i hope you enjoy him, and there is more to come soon. http://i518.photobucket.com/albums/u344/ensisferrae/Minis/justicar6.jpg http://i518.photobucket.com/albums/u344/ensisferrae/Minis/justicar7.jpg http://i518.photobucket.com/albums/u344/ensisferrae/Minis/justicar1.jpg http://i518.photobucket.com/albums/u344/ensisferrae/Minis/justicar2.jpg again, C/C is much appreciated and asked for, so that i can improve (and know where i need to) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/184465-grey-knights-wip/ Share on other sites
Jukkiz
You could add somekinda silver to his armour :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/184465-grey-knights-wip/#findComment-2199303 Share on other sites
Swordbrother
Nice model! One more person who thinks GK:s should be grey not metal! I would say badab black on the metal. Very small amount of badab black on the lenses, they look a little messy right now, that could fix that a little. Clean up the black and highlight maybe with codex grey. This last tip is just my personal taste: Darken the armor with a soft badab black wash. I find the armour a bit to bright. Like your highlight work! Dragonkin Arenis
This last tip is just my personal taste: Darken the armor with a soft badab black wash. I find the armour a bit to bright. I dunno... I find the armour's a little too dark for my taste... What base color did you use (the color the grey is based on, like Fortress, Codex, Whatever Grey or otherwise)? Still, I love the little touches of gold here and there, makes the model stand out for me. Nice work! I'd love to see the rest of that squad done ;) Arenis Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/184465-grey-knights-wip/#findComment-2199522 Share on other sites
gil galed
I'd actually say that is my standard GK colour ;) http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/index.p...p;#entry2142731 Looks good, Maybe add some writing to the purity seals / give the sword a shade? But, the recesses are to bright. Which prevent the armour from looking great. A badab black wash could fix that. But it would probably be better to layer from a darker colour from the start when you paint. Like this: 1:1 chaos black / adaptus battlegrey and then layer on codex grey/adaptus or whatever he had used. Again the highlights look great. But the mini would really benefit from better shading. It lacks that dimension. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/184465-grey-knights-wip/#findComment-2200779 Share on other sites
earthen
Hey enis! Id say that one thing youre doing right is keeping your painting very clean, "in the lines" if you will. that will pay off in the long run. The only real problem area i see are the eyes and some of the joints. Are you using any washes? I think that would not only help take care of both, but also help add some much needed depth to the model. It looks a bit flat as is. Try washing the entire thing with thinned down Badab Black. Use normal badab black for the weapons though, and do a light drybrush of boltgun on the edges of the sword and ammo belt afterward. Give it a shot and tell me what you think! Hey enis!
