First Daemonhunter Dreadnaught

So, this is my very first mech-type unit. I had (at the time) only painted one group of PAGK's and an inquisitor as my very first paint jobs (pics to come). I am especially proud of the base of this model. I tried to paint it to look like "The Giants Cuaseway" (Here) in Ireland because the stones almost look that way, plus I saw it to be pretty fitting with it being a dreadnaught and all.

All in all, its a pretty simple paint scheme, lots of boltgun metal and some hints of red, gold and white. I did not put a heavy wash on it and I did not clear coat it yet. I want to get all of my army up to the standard "3-foot" rule, then go back and make some corrections. I don't think any pieces should be "Finished". Unless you are an amazing paint, as I have seen so many times on this forum.

This is the front. I am not too happy with how the red turned out.. It is a bit bright for my taste. I didn't know how to do skulls yet and YES, I know the smoke launcher is on backwards. That has been fixed. (I'm a nub)

I like the back here, simple, mechy looking.

Aaaand its right side. Not too happy about the Lascannon...

So... There's my very first mech. C&C always welcome. I think I should stick more to the graphic design work (which is what I do) than to painting, although I do have fun doing it.

haha I quite like the smoke launcher looking backwards...gives him a sort of funky hair-do :P

Its very good for your first dread, for the red, give it a wash of very watered down chaos black, or badab black ink, and then highlight the edges see how that turns out :)
