jadex1
So I'm trying to Paint the wolf that stalks the stars on Grimnar, and its really hard. Why didn't GW make a white decal it would have been so much easier. Has anyone done this before or have any tips to trying to paint the great company logo? thanks guys, Jadex Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/184588-painting-logan-grimnar/ Share on other sites
WolfLordLars
It was suggested to me that you paint the shoulder a grey, put the decal on, paint it white, then paint black around it. I have yet to try this. Personally, I am going with his 'pre-great wolf' scheme, which looks like codex grey with the wolf/moon logo. jadex1
Ya i tried what they said on GW and there is no way that worked, it is so incredibly hard. The decal is so small you can get even enough brush strokes. i think the guy who painted Logan must of hand painted it, and obviously he is a really skilled artist. I really wanted to do the Great company logo but i looks like i might take your idea and do the pre-great company Logo cause this is super hard to do. WolfLordLars
Well, another option would be to do the grey background instead of black. Looks about right I imagine. Or, get custom white decals? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/184588-painting-logan-grimnar/#findComment-2181924 Share on other sites
Night Runner
Try making your own decals. There is something on this site under the downloads section and there are tutorials on BOLS as well as other modeling sites. It's not as hard as you think, but you will have to buy some special decal paper and you will need a good average computer printer. MaleOpener
All you need to do is this .... 1. Leave the shoulder pad the grey as the rest of the model. 2. Use the great wolf decal, from the SW transfer sheet, and place it on the SP you left grey. 3. With the fine detail brush, paint the transfer with a light grey. 4. Now, paint the transfer with skull white. Leave some grey as an outline, or none at all. 5. When the painted transfer dries, use teh fine detail brush again and paint the shoulder pad black. Being careful going around the painted transfer. Logan Grimnar This link should help you.
