Teivel
Hey All, I have been thinking of using the "count as" rule for my HQ to use the rules for Huron Blackheart as my lord. I have been playing 40K for about 10 years and I never thought is using this, you used to be able to customize your HQ choices more in the past. More or less, do people give you a hard time when you guys use "count as" or is it pretty much accepted as a viable option? Dan The Deamon
As long as whatever HQ you make to 'count as' huron has similar wargear with huron. Hq with power weapon, power fist, flamer nozzle somewhere, and something to show Warptime. Most people will allow this without complaint. Once you start stretching things you'l have problems. Ex. Marine with twin lightning claws and a melta bomb = Not a good Huron counts as. I remember someone posting a judge ruling on a tournament that said something along the lines of, Whatever you counts as in your army, it must stay consistent throughout your entire army, and it's wargear. Don't quote me on that, but it's something to keep in mind. anyone have that quote? chillin
Just show the right wargear, PF, PW, flamer, something to represent that little critter that gives him WT, then there is reallly nothing to give you a hard time about. Sawtooth
I also like to point to whatever counts as special character I'm using and let my opponent know before the game starts what it is. I always considered it polite, and if they somehow have a problem with it you get it taken care of right then and there. Teivel
Thanks everyone for your input. I planned on announcing it in the beginning of the game to be polite so that they would be no surprises and, "Wait, he's what?!" from my opponent. I will probably use my lord as him, a winged DP, or a lord with jump pack and claws (trying to stay within Night Lords fluff) until they hopefully bring back the customizability from the previous codex. Thanks again, ~Teivel Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/184644-count-as-rule/#findComment-2183521 Share on other sites
Corpse.
Its accepted here. Because the people who know me know that the "trimming of the crop" butchered my wallet already. Counts-as with my custom converted armies (well over 800 models chopped, and spent many ours on each and every one) need somewhere to be. The warmachine players beg me to come to their side whenever they sniff a chance to tempt me. I think that's why GW are so vexed in trying to keep their players in their game system with the "counts as" rule. Allerka
Yeah, as long as the wargear matches, you're good. I use a counts-as Khârn that's a character from my Renegade Chapter, but the model is pretty much scratch-built, only using Khârn's head. I also have a counts-as Vulkan, but instead of a spear, a gauntlet with a flamer built into it, and a 3+ INV cloak, I modeled my guy to have a halberd with attached flamer and a storm shield. So he's identical wargear-wise, it's all just arranged differently.
