Terminators

So I purchased 10 terminators and a Landraider recently for my campaign list...

I have a termie lord and 4 termies with dual claws. in the LR..

Question is... What do i do with the rest of my terminators...

I made 3 of them into "termicide" Termie with combi melta..

So I have 3 left and have no idea... Do a Heavy Flamer, Reaper, and? I have bits to make Pretty much any option..

I have never really used terminators and so any help would be great!

3 more termicide, nothing else to do w/ 3 termi's

3 man Reaper squad, never tried it but I see some potential.

Could mess around with a Heavy Flamer and 2 Combi-Flamer Flamercide squad, again not sure on its effectiveness but possible.

The last idea would be up the Termicide to a 6 man squad with a little more ooomph, 1-2 Fists, cheap Icon maybe.

Or you can beef up the termicide squad with a Chainfist + Heavy Flamer guy. Save the remaining two unassembled, wait till next codex comes around and configure them then. I suspect we'll be getting bigger capacity Land Raiders next time round to make having more than 3 per unit more viable.

I can't recommend the 3 termie + reaper configuration. The right to shoot an autocannon a couple times is not worth 115 or more points.

Not to mention the idea of 3 terminators deepstriking in and droping putting three templates on a disembarking squad.. or a squad of firewarriors... =)
Cue Metallica's Fight Fire with Fire. ;)

The magnet option is a good one, that is what I'm using for my Terminators and it works like a charm. It lets you use them for Flamercide AND let's you expand on the existing squad, should you choose to make it a 6 man unit instead.

It's quite easy to do as well,

Make 3 combi plasmas. Normally I wouldnt ever suggest plasmas, but with terminators they can really turn the battle by coming in and wiping out a squad of marines or a MC. Im sure they will be even more useful against the new nids (speculation: to get in past the swarm of gaunts and hit the MCs/heavy support from behind).

Plus they look cool, and are easy to make. Use plasma pistols from your CSM boxes.

EDIT: I actually am in a similar situation. I bought 10, and I have:

x3 combi meltas

x3 combi plasmas

x1 Heavy flamer

x1 Reaper Autocannon

I was thinking of getting a termie lord box and using the lightning claws to make a single champion (more for show than anything). That would still leave me with one guy. Maybe converting him into a sorceror at the same time? Is it possible to make a sorceror and a lord out of the termie lord box?

another question with the 3x1mm disk magnets - do you find they're thin enough to just glue to each side without looking odd, or do you need to shave or drill an indentation for them to allow the pieces to sit flush?

A word on the plastic terminator: if you're going to use the trophy racks you may find the shoulder pads with raised top edges get in the way. You can work around this, just be aware of the problem when you're putting your terminators together.

Almost, you'll have extra weapons, head, bits and bobs - like the tabard, familiar etc. But you'd need a 2nd pair of legs + torso.

You need to drill an indentation. Just do it slowly and ease the magnet in there to test how much more you need to drill.

On the magnets issue: It's a pure game thing to do for WYSIWYG purposes. Yes, it gives you options. But it looks kinda silly - all your termies will have their arms hanging by their sides.

If you play in tournaments then maybe that is an okay idea, but if you play more informally, I'd rather do some really cool poses and play 'counts-as' if I wanted to.

If you don't want floppy magnet arms, you have to do pinning as well, and by this point the whole thing becomes so much bloody work that I personally prefer just to have multiple terminators with different configs, and if my configs aren't 100% math-hammer-approved, I just deal.

I've used magnets myself. The ones I used were smaller - 1x1mm disk magnets - basically little cylinders. I had to drill holes for them - which was easy, because they are the same width as my heavy pinning wire, so I already have the perfect sized bits, though I wasn't sure that would still be needed for the wider magnets.

My small magnets were perfect for making swappable guns, heads, and banner tops on my basic chaos marines. All of these pieces are light enough and fit well enough that the magnets hold them on without any drooping or weird pose issues.

That said, I have had some difficulties when I used these magnets for the shoulder joins on my champions. They don't droop when sitting on the table, but they do get bumped around or even fall off when the model is jostled during play. And they wouldn't work at all for metal parts. That said, from my experience of the 1mm wide disk magnets, I have to imagine that 3mm wide disk magnets would hold plastic arms in whatever orientation you like. You could probably even pick the model up by the arm and have no trouble from it. Metal arms might even be possible, but I have to let those who tried those magnets already speak to that.

I didn't use magnets for my terminators, though I've been kicking myself for that recently and considering going back to re-do some of them. The main issue with the terminators is a lack of extra shoulder pads, so to do magnetized arms you need to either acquire extra shoulder pads or find some way of swapping out the pads themselves. More magnets? Blue tac?

I might do this for my 5 terminators with double lightening claws.. Termicide is so much better than i ever could have imagined.. The match i used them in recently they stood there and got shot at for 4 turns.... It wasnt until turn 5 that they finally were all dead.. sort of amusing..

I find that using termicide with my obliterators is a DEVESTATING combination...

Termicide...

Pop tank

Obliterators take out the troops.
