Icon
Quick question, does the inferno pistol follow a 2d6 armor pen rule, or just a standard melta weapon, also, is it 8 + 2d6 or just 2d6 Also, Melta guns, do we follow the codex or 5th ed revision? Sort of new to Warhammer 40k and haven't seen anything before 5th ed. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/184787-inferno-pistol/ Share on other sites
Archon Mike
its a "short range" melta weapon - so up to 3 inches it would add the extra d6 for a total of 8+2d6 range 6" = str 8 + d6 for armor pen. range 3" = str 8 + 2d6 for armor pen. Melta weapons add the extra d6 if at less than half their standard range. Meltagun range 12" so up to 6 inches add the extra d6 for pen. Multimelta range 24" add an extra d6 up to range 12" for pen. hope that helps Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/184787-inferno-pistol/#findComment-2184271 Share on other sites

silversmith82
Quite a lovely little thing and looks oh so useful on Seraphim squads or jump packing Canonesses. Funny how the only SM who gets one in the entire game is Dante... Inquisitor Gabriel Lupus
I would say Space Marines like to steal our Inquisition toys, but he had one first (still think he stole it, the blood drinking vampiric git :tu: ). Shame it doesn't work as well as you'd have thought on paper, but it's a nice fluffy weapon anyways... silversmith82
No it works spectacularly when used properly. Your uber expensive Honor Guard with Sir Dante goes roaring up to a transport, gets within 3" blows it away with the Melta Pistol and then wipes out whatever was inside. Works great on a Canoness towing a unit of Seraphim as well. She blows up a transport the Seraphim fly in, twin hand flamer whatever was inside, then assault it, then disengage with hit and run, flamer it again and mop it up. Inquisitor Fox
Or your Seraphim with 2 TL Inferno Pistol sisters and a VSS with Plasma Pistol fly over by some terminators, open fire, and watch over a hundred points of models go up in smoke in a single shooting phase. You can then send them in and let the VSS with her power weapon mop up one or two more, then hit and run. It works rather well, especially with an act of faith or two. silversmith82
Personally with the new template options I'd much rather have the hand flamers. If the terminator player lets you get that close unmolested then that's his fault.
