So I have been looking for different grey schemes for 2 months, I bought and tried the Vallejo Model Color grey entire range, I tried the GW greys, I tried airbrushing + inking + refeathering, I tried all I see on the net......and now you come with a simple Devlan Mud wash to achieve one of the best appearances out there and paint all that minis in a couple days???? :D <_<

Congrats for that army, It will be astonishing.

But man, you MUST answer our questions, please...

I think the main ones are:

1)- So you give finally a Devlan Mud Wash. Only one ? more? thinned devlan mud or right from the pot?

2)- Could you please post the recipe for that amazing blue in the claws?

3) Same with faces (did you prime them white instead of black?), yellow , plates (are the chests painted with the same yello?), and fur.

4) Wich is the magnets size? 3mm?

A very nice looking , coherent and clean army there. And so quickly...

If you ask me, add them some battle damage and they are a top army.

Thanks for the nice words, lads, motivation is key in army painting.

As i got several questions n pns now, asking for details on technique, i'll take the time answering of course:

p.s. what's happening with the wolf??

Please be so kind to ask once more, but a bit more precise. Russ? Logan? somethign else?

For the combi weapons why not magnetize the whole storm bolter?

Hard to see the use.

If i would do so, i would need to have many weapons more to assemble & paint

How did you do the snow???

Well, there is not really a secret; i use GW snow, and glue.

1)- So you give finally a Devlan Mud Wash. Only one ? more? thinned devlan mud or right from the pot?

Straight from the pot & only one. Time is a constraint, as u might imagine. :)

the top of the termis sometimes gets to dark then, and develops drops i dont like, so i redo them in the end after the wash has dried with a mix of devlan mud & sw grey.

2)- Could you please post the recipe for that amazing blue in the claws?

Enchanted blue and white. Nothing else. Time, u know. :)

3) Same with faces (did you prime them white instead of black?)

Faces are primes black.

Then i use the skin colour from the foundation range, as well as devlan mud. Nothing else. Time.

Guess i'll make a tut on that, as i see people having problems with faces and heads over and over, although its VERY easy to do, and VERY fast in my opinion.

All the face s in the army together take no more than 1 hour or 2.

yellow

For the shoulder plates i use the two yellow tones from the foundation range.

The Yellow trims and plates on the armour are composed from bestial brown, sonburst yellow, and white.

and fur

Well, thats for sure easier than anything else.

Just apply any brown, any grey, or any mixture of those two to the fur.

Brush with a lighter tone.

Give it a wash, what ever u like.

black will work, brown will work, mixes will work

I use devlan mud as i do for all other steps here... well, did i mention the time constraits?

4) Wich is the magnets size? 3mm?

Yes.

add them some battle damage and they are a top army.

I will, but in the end.

Could you please answer my questions on the thread, so everyone may read them too? Please explain everything: if you prime faces white, your base colours, highlights and shadows for the faces, the yellow, the plates (I think metal parts like chest eagles are the same yellow, am I wrong?), the fur...

Congrats again, I cant believe the look so nice with so little time invested.

If any more questions come up: feel free.

That would be awsome. I asked it because it seemed your faces in the sprue had a "white" or "grey" priming (you can see the grey colour in the sprue).

If those are the only 3 steps (Tallarn flesh, Wash Devlan, Tallarn Flesh), then that tutorial is gonna rock...

PS: Now that I see the bases, did you use an airbrush for any step (fenris, shadow or sw grey) ?? maybe to give a grey to some faces with that hair colour?

Thanks a lot for your kind answers, and now go back painting ¡¡ :P

I'll echo the others here and say I'm blown away by the look you have acheived with such a simple technique. Magnetsising the arms muct have been a pain but it's a great way of quickly rebuilding weapon options so :tu: for carrying it out.

Keep it going and I hope you get them done on time.

... but promise one thing IF and only if you get the time ... drill the bolter barrels ... they will look even more stunnning than they currently do.

Cheers

I

Nice group shot ¡¡¡

They are gonna look fantastic when you finish them off with bases.

Please if possible don´t forget taking pics to a Pre-Washed Termi, so we can see how to paint them to get this look.

PS: Im too eagerly awaiting for the faces tutorial... ;)

Soooo.... done.

1750p in 3 weeks, starting with the first buy. So, its possible.

http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j92/wieims/PICT0176.jpg

The pic is ugly, guess ill make some more.

I left out 10 Heads, because of the tut i wanna do for teh easy-fast-head painting. I just would have to glue them in place atm, but its easier to show when they are not.

Now i can still add some details:

*ice & blood & leaves for the Bases

*banners

*battledamage

AND they all fit into two cookie pods, as the bases are magentized to,, of course :-).

Are you spraying on the space wolves gray either airgun or airbrush?

Yes, the basecoats are spayed, its faster by a fctor of 10, at least. ^_^
