Sketching the Rock

if you'd take the original BFG scale (ie a battle barge) you would have to make this thing pretty damn big :)

(maybe you could have the top floating over half your table? )

it wouldnt have to be the top as its space, there is no right way up! they could be battleing across the side, that would be cool

I'm loving the progress on this thing. What programs/tools are you using to make this?

photoshop CS, my mouse, and a bunch of crazy half formed ideas floating around my brain

It's not all hangar after all. Most of it is prisons after all ^^

you guys have it all wrong, the inside is entirely hollow and it's a giant playpen filled with miulticoloured balls. All of a sudden the grim dark future ain't so grim and dark now is it.

Instant win that would be. Someone made spoof stats for a battlebarge...I don't even want to think what The Rock will have...

I believe that the Imperial Fists also are fleet based? Someone comfirm that?

And I must say I'm impressed by a lot here. The scale, the vision the sheer ambition and of course the execution. Wow!

thanks ;)

the sheer monstrous scale of my over-ambition has yet to hit me. ;)

awesome idea :)

I look forward to seeing a paper-mache version :)

only comment so far is that the night sky is too vivid and may detract attention from the finished peice

although the nightscape is really convincng for a painted peice it looks really cool i think that using photoshop to create the stars would be better

if you want any inspiration on photoshop stuff in space check this guy out he's ausome

if you click on the top half of the page, then go to bio and writings there are a few tutorials there he has done some more though so just type greg martin tutorials onto google

i think the thunderhawks look better too gives much more awe to the scene

basically I LOVE IT and have no idea how i missed this thread

I agree there's a chance it could, but i'll adjust that at the end when I'm finished the rock. that'll be easy to alter.

but i'm not quite sure what you mean about photoshop.. I AM using photoshop, exclusively.

(thanks for the website btw, awesome stuff)

and a quick update:

not too much more progress, just been playing with shadow, trying to hash out these peripheral asteroids, that will be connected using space bridges.

slow progress, it's taking me a while to get the look I want.

just sorta... stand back a little bit, and pretend you can see the detail :)

Oooh, shiny ^^

Right now, the lower hangars look more like flat screens. Maybe you'll have to put some faint outlines of hangar walls there.

ohhh yes hahah no worries, nothing on the lower part is done. heck most of the top part isn't even finished.

still a lot of work yet :D
