Would this help it to maintain efficiency for a while? Is it worth the points cost? Cheers. I dont use them, but my opponents do, so this is what i picked up from them: I have never seen any of them equip it with a storm bolter. That should answer the next two of your questions. I have also never seen it in a position where it didnt get a cover save of some type. cleanse the impure Posted November 15, 2009 Share Posted November 15, 2009 Ok, personally I wouldn't bother with the storm bolter. Remember, the weapon that is destroyed is chosen by the person who is doing the destroying, so they will remove your demolisher cannon straight away. Thus, if you give the tank a storm bolter, you are making it that bit harder to fully destroy or immobilise but not to remove its main threat potential. Just my two cents. WG Vrox Posted November 15, 2009 Share Posted November 15, 2009 Now you do understand that a Vindicator does come with a Storm Bolter for the 115 points. Your asking is it worth the 10 points to put another on? If I knew I was going up against a army that auto glances such as Necron, its not a bad thought as it will survive that much longer. For a trouney game, it really comes down to what you plan to do with it and what units you keep around it. Keep in mind that even though a SB is a defensive weapon, you can not fire it and your ordanance weapon. If you could the 10 points would be a no brainer to take for me. Firing 2 SB can be a nice thing in continued operation after your weapon destroyed result is taken. In addition there are times in a game where you will not want to fire your main weapon in fear of hitting your own units, which of course is a nice time to have 2 SB. However the best use of a Vindicator after it's main weapon is destroyed is Ramming with it :D . Make sure you get at least a 10" move and you have a Str 7 hit. Not much but against rear or side armor can cause some damage. When you add in the fact that it keeps moving and can hit a second one if you destory the first, it starts paying off. Because of the short range, I find myself taking the straightest line between the vindi and what I want to fire at, this usually forces me to roll through woods, ruins or even wrecked vehciles. So at the very least I take a dozer blade. Plus how can you not take it when the model looks so cool. Vrox i dont use one i tend to put him on the flanks (so hes more likely to be shot from the front or one side) so they last longer etc. thats simply because the guns range is 24" i keep my whirlwind behind cover miles away from anything if possible :) but the terrain we usually use are buildings so you cant drive throuhg a building so easily. In any case, i love the buggers so much, i use 2 of them. i always equip them with siege shield, since you are going to put them in cover anyhow, no sense in letting them get immoblizied by an unlucky die. I never give them extra storm bolters.
