Busby
I've got several combinations of models at my disposal and I just can't seem to wrap my brain around which sort of squad to throw Logan in. At the moment, I'm running him in a unit of 5 WG in TA with a mixture of weaponry: 1xPF/SB 2xCF/SB 1xTwin WC, 1xAC/SB. I was thinking of stashing him in with Arjac's squad (Because you really can't bring out Logan without his Champion, right?) of 3xTH/SS + Arjac and then tossing them in a DP and watch as an entire army shoots at them (It's probably the most entertaining moment of any game I play) or getting rid of some/all of the TH/SS and bring in a few Wolf Claw types, sticking them in a Crusader, and watching the chaos ensue. I'm looking at using him as a close combat beast instead of taking advantage of having him walk around with a group of WG/LF shooting heavy weapons at tanks. My ultimate goal is to hopefully use the unit as a flanking (or drop podding unit) and attempting to sweep through the enemy or possibly cause some sort of pincher move with other elements of my force (mostly close combat oriented with 2xAC, 2xTLAC, 2xMM, and 2xMG as my anti tank) work on doing the same. Also of note, I will be including our Chapter's favorite Psyker: Njal. My point: Any advice someone could give on where I should place Logan so that he (and the unit in question) would be most effective? If need be, I can elaborate in depth exactly what I intend to bring if it will help. Thanks! Freman Bloodglaive
My standard armament for Wolf Guard in terminator armour is the storm bolter/wolf claw combination. This gives ranged ability with good close combat potential. Heavy weapons are always assault cannon, although I have to admit that the cyclone has become better than it was. I always throw in one chainfist for dealing with armour, and maybe a power fist to help with high toughness creatures although re-rolls to wound are usually enough. My squad leader (who used to be a battle leader) has a frost axe and storm bolter. Veldrik
I've found the most effective, atleast against eldar who pop in any turn they frigging want to, is to stick Logan with a full unit of Long Fangs + Wolf Guard with a cyclone on him. I mix the heavy weapons alot, and let them roll. He walks along with his retinue, relentlessly shooting stuff, and can use tank killer if necessary. In close combat, especially if you throw on that +1 attack thing, they are devestating. I shoot things, and finally when close enough, I split fire, shoot a bit at my target, and charge in. I found this works nicely against warpspiders with autarchs. After taking out a few units though, they become target practice as my opponent doesn't like it when they demolish things, so he turns all of his fire on them. So far I've had atleast one person survive from the unit by the end of the game atleast ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/184912-logan-and-his-retinue/#findComment-2186160 Share on other sites

Busby
Thanks for the replies folks. After discussing it with a few of the locals and reading up more on here, I do believe I'm going to field him similar to this: Logan Arjac (Some rumor him to be Chuck Norris) SS/TH 2xClaws AC/PF or AC/CF In a moving wall (Likely the Redeemer) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/184912-logan-and-his-retinue/#findComment-2186764 Share on other sites
LPetersson
I will break with popular opinion and suggest putting Arjac in another squad. With Logan & Arjac in one unit, you canbe guaranteed that they'll be dead very quickly. Any opponent who isn't a complete **self-censured-word** will focus fire on that unit and take them out... I like the idea of Logan + Long Fangs + WG/TDA/CML and Arjac with some mixed ranged and close combat weapons WG and maybe Ragnar with some WGs to really make sure the opponent doesn't know what to do... Freman Bloodglaive
I'll agree with LPetersson. Logan is an expensive model. Arjac is also expensive. Putting both in the same squad is simply writing "shoot here for easy points" on that unit. Logan is pretty tough, but I've killed Abbadon with plasma guns, so having a 4+ save and eternal warrior is still no guarantee of survival.
