Zsoulless
Looks Great! I wouldn't worry to much about the feet.. He looks fine as is.. I would sculpt a few feather tips at the bottom of his robe to break up its straight edge.. Not too many 5-6 around the bottom should do.. I dont Like Zoanthrope head.. Its much to bulky IMO.. foot fungus will grow on you too, but they make sprays for that.. :P I joke.. but thats my 2 cents for all its worth.. Sgt. Blank
Looks wicked. I am really impressed with the feathers and like the use of the old bitz. smallvictory
@Zsoulless- Added one feather, looks great, gave up on the rest because it was too hard getting tools between the staff and blades. Flippin obstacle course, so I gave up. Killed the big head and added a melted plasticard scroll on a chain, much better, thanks for the giving me the spray for my fungus :P. @Rottenlad- Thanks alot, but don't hate me when you figure out what a pain a project like this is, I warned you. @Sgt.Blank- Feathers took me the longest and were my inspiration for the whole project, thanks for noticing. Does primer count as paint? Sorry to be a tease but I can't help it. Sprayed him in chaos black then played with the lighting so the details could be seen. Just the first seeing him all one color instead of the five diferent materials, looking like a real model finally. I have a decent plan for the paint, but the feathers might be rough, not sure how best to go about painting them different colors without taking the rest of my life to finish. Any ideas would be appreciated, doing them last, and I am not starting 'til tonight after work. Zsoulless
Amazing how a simple coat of primer can bring coherency to a Model.. He Looks Great! The scroll fits much better then the Nid head did!! COG
Me personally i would try something like a white on the bottom and move up to a blue and then have blue for the armor. it would separate it from the disc but still allow for coherency. you could try a different approach as blue is kind of used a lot in Tzeentch schemes. good luck It must be winter. kind of similar to this scheme as far as feathers go http://coolminiornot.com/pics/pics13/img4a8a1437cf823.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/185066-tzeentch-prince/page/2/#findComment-2201177 Share on other sites
smallvictory
@COH- Haha, thats funny, I told you this was a Winter sport. As for the colors, my warband sports yellow armor, and the idea around the feathers are that they have been collected from different bird like deamon creatures. @ Nurglespuss- Used him in a game at home, it was pretty cool seeing him leading the charge. @Zsoulless- Agreed, scroll is better, now I need to learn how to paint scrolls. Old army was Nids, already had a scheme. Base coated the armor, the skin and did the first skin highlight. Also tried all kinds of schemes on his head before I settled on what you see. Here's the thing, I hate the beak, and I'm not sure about how to address the eyes(both on his head and the ones growing out of his skin). Any ideas would be appreciated, I'm going to finish the skin and the yellow tonight before I try to tackle the feathers. smallvictory
Much happier with the beak, I've got to say painting something you have made really makes you realize all the things you wish you had done differently. More details/definition on his head would have been great, right now it looks like it was wittled out of wood. Also there are two spots on his back where my fingerprint is forever going to be there in case I need to have proof of ownership in a police report. Oh well, dinner then more paint, any comments on color choices are welcome. Later. Brother Loring
I think he's is coming on very well. It's weird you say about him being wittled from wood, because I feel a bit of an american indian totem pole-ness in him. I think he needs to look more evil. Perhaps some red eyes?? Otherwise, a great result and the painting is coming along nicely! smallvictory
Brother Loring I am so glad you said that. A lot of the fluff I'm using revolves around images of American Indians, I feel much better with the totem pole look now. Going forward I'll just say it was on purpose, :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/185066-tzeentch-prince/page/2/#findComment-2205617 Share on other sites
COG
Also there are two spots on his back where my fingerprint is forever going to be there in case I need to have proof of ownership in a police report lol as for the eyes i like the yellow but there does seem to be a decent amount of yellow. dunno if yellow/white would work. although that might make it too noticeable. and if you want to tie in the totem you could always go with the standard totem color(i think they have standard colors) light blue, maroon and green. Arsenal
I don't think the head lacks detail - maybe a blue wash in the crevaces, and a final highlight along the edges will bring out the contours and colours more? smallvictory
@ Arsenal- A final highlight will need to happen for sure. My regrets about the head are lack of peircings, bumps like real vultures have, wrinkles, anything to add interest. As it stands I have to rely on my painting skills to add interest, and nobody should have to rely on my painting skills for anything, thats just mean. @ COG- I agree that there is too much yellow, I'm kicking around the idea of some kind of face tatoo around the eye to break things up. Just base coated some feathers, real happy with the random pattern, just gonna take time. Hopefully I can squeeze in some paint time tonight, I really want to K.O. the feathers all the way to final highlights. smallvictory
Busy week kept me away from the paint, but I did do a little. Gotta find a recipe to make that poorly sculpted chain look good, not as easy as I thought. First highlights on the feathers turned out nice I think, what do you all think of the overall look? If this was yours, what would you do/change at this point? I've been holding him by the disk while painting, anybody know a good way to remove any finger oils (if that even exists) before painting now thats already primed? Thanks for all the possative feedback, I welcome the haters as well, I have the whole day tomorrow to paint and plan on finishing. smallvictory
Almost done! I haven't been motivated to finish 'til today, this "should" be my last WIP post before the Hall of Honor. Lots of little stuff to do, paint details on the book, armor peice on the glove, belt buckle, trophies and the disk. Piece of cake, lots of coffee and the family is leaving me alone. Wish me luck, and stay tuned for my first squad of marines, later. COG
stupid razza frazza subscription never told me of the posts. need to see the details like the colors so far. the parchment looks good as does the freehand. the black trim looks a little unfinished but it might be so dunno i have a tough time focusing on one thing which is good and bad i guess also chain looks chainy. would like to see him on a flying base or "floating" all and all very good for the first sculpt. i might actually have to learn to play just so i can see this guy irl.
