Space Wolves with red color template

hi i am a space wolves player, but i hate SW colour template, :)

and i love red colour, n its f***ing cool in space marine.

can i have new chapter based on SW n red color ???

maybe i will call my chapter "Hell Hounds", or "Imperial Dogs", or "Blood Wolves"

what do u think, guys ???

thx.

go for it. I don't like the old scheme gw used to use either, this new one theyre using of the shadow/SW grey mix is better. I use codex grey myself. The only reason I think GW switched from grey to bluegrey is because grey really isn't a color its a shade/tint(someone with art knowledge can correct me) But grey does contrast with everything but it is kinda bland. but i like it.

anyone think it is ironic that the grey alot of us use is called "codex" grey?

I say go for it.

But then, I think that anytime someone has a cool idea for painting or modelling, rules and fluff should always be subordinate to making awesome stuff.

I agree with this. After all they are just miniature soldiers. You pay for em, do whatever you want with them.

Personally, i don't think there really Space Wolves then, you would have to call them something else, and give them a new background and use 'count as' characters :)

Thats what i think anyway, half the reason i was first attracted to Space Wolves was the colour scheme....Space Wolves are a chapter...... and they are blue....what ever kind of blue it is.......but yeah the rules are really good, and the models....

I don't like the standard color scheme either. I tried several different grey/blue versions and just didn't find one I liked. I ended up with a light Khaki color that I like a lot. That was how my Howling Coyotes were born.

Whether they are Space Wolves or a successor chapter is up to you. Now many will say you can't, but GW ignores the background anytime it is inconvenient. So I see no reason to be held to a higher standard than GW.

The Hellhounds sounds the best to me. Red armor with a flame motif would look really cool.

You know, now that you mention a flame motif, I'm picturing, like, Codex Grey armour covered in pure red stylized flames. That would look pretty awesome, though if I were to do that, I'd simply claim that they're a Space Wolves company - maybe a lost one, or something.

below is my experimental red colour space wolf, but i try it in assault black reach sprue,

what u think ???

i paint the red marine,

and my wife who paint the ork :P

pls give me a real comment,

its okay, i can receive "ITS SO UGLY !!!" comment ;)

as you notice, i paint it black wash, to make it look "real" marine in battlefield,

and it lack of colour, just blood red, chaos black, and mithril silver.

ok i wait all of your comment, suggestion, and teaching

thx

I think a darker metallic would look better, if you're using GW paints maybe try boltgun metal. I've heard washing with brown (devlan mud) looks good with red, though I've never tried it - maybe something to play with in the future. Washing the metallics will also darken them a little bit, so they're not quite so shiny.

Also, painting the casing on a bolter makes them look way better, though it is a huge pain to do...the rim on your shoulder pads looks pretty cleanly done, so maybe it would be no trouble for you though. Painting it black would give a good contrast with the rest of the model. The eyes will be another place for you to get a good contrast, I'm not sure what color to paint them though.

I wish my girlfriend would paint with me - if I'd propose maybe she would. Something to think about...

You must have missed the part where each wolf lord makes up his own iconography and the more numerous of our units have alteast one shoulder that should have red on it didnt you?

My SWs are SW Grey with red pauldrons btw.
