this is the first time ive used plasticard so go easy and give me tips please

although you may think its cheating to use a demolisher turret its not! i looked it up in the codex and it doesn't say that its hull mounted so... YEAH

hardest parts were the front of the russ which i plasticarded over completely and the rounded part which the top hatch rests on

still need to green stuff the gaps in a few places and stuck for what to do with what used to be the sponsons so ideas please

thanks

While the codex may not say it's "hull mounted" it certainly doesn't say you can pay points for a vindicator and buy a lemon russ demolisher - which is exactly what you have here.

As far as aesthetics: the turret is too crowded with the smoke launchers up on top -maybe relocate them along side the gun? Also, the hatch on top of the hatch doesn't look right - I'd cut off the original hatch part and put the SM hatch bit flush with the top of the turret.

PS - Why would you ever have a bayonet on a turret mounted storm bolter?

fluff wise it wold make sense

the wolf lords sign a decree to get rid of all leman russ exterminators for the new refurb of the chapter and convert them into other tanks instead of destroying them :D

but this isnt a leman russ demolisher, its not finished but i am planning to make him look more SW like, remove some rivets and add plasticard reminiscent of the rhino style like i have on the front armour

as for the bayonet its from the chaos sprue so... speaks for itself doesn't it :D

personally i like the smoke launchers i know what your saying but i think it looks cool

I like the Rhino-esque front plating you've added. I understand that you may be pretty well decided on using the turret, but from the look of it, I think you have ample skill to build a slightly elevated sloping hull top, and mount the cannon in that. That would have the upside of retaining the distinctive look of the Vindicator, with its whopping great hull-mounted primary weapon.

^_^Hmmmmm, this wolf brother is enjoying this. Very good conversion so far, and I like the idea of the demolisher. You would probably have to agree to running it as hull mounted in games, but make sure your opponent then agrees to the siege shield protection. The idea of building a "Jagdpanther" type out of a Leman Russ has me thinking...........

Great conversion brother Whip!

As our othe brothers of said, my concern would be the higher profile. Nonetheless...when the enemies of Russ and the Holy Emperor see the sillouhette, they will know the Emperor has set his wolves amongst them and they are soon to die!! :D

hmmm yeah i see what you mean it does still look very IG i want to keep the turrent i think it would work on a landraider or something? i dont want to throw it away im quite proud of it :D even if it doesn't quite fit

Bulk out the turret a bit more. That way it will look less orky. Other than that, very good. Have you altered it after I last saw it?

such a shame it wiped out my entire army last game...

my whirlwind and priest biker squad helped him kick yo ass :)

no no changes since just thought i'd post it

Well, I think that turret would look aces on a Land Raider if you wanted to build an Ares. :D

Doubly so if you scratchbuild a new top panel for the Raider, giving you a place for the turret kind of half-submerged beneath the tracks.

Also, are you the same "wiplash" from the Work In Progress forum? If so, I've admired your work for some time.

Nice work on the LR.

But as you self seems to conclude is that there will be debate regarding the turret. About the legality of it having a 360 degree field of fire.

Personally I think that the Thunderer is very suitable in a SW force since it more or less project an image of raw compact power. http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/thun.htm

Just change the position of the demolisher cannon and you are done :D

these have been my other threads in WIP

Army WIP

Test Mini

Wolf Lord

if thats what you are thinking of then yes thats me and thankyou very much for following my (minimal:P) work

i did originally mount the turret on a rhino (classic one) but the turret was nearly as long as the tank!!

so i was going to put it on my land raider but i chose the leman as i had nothing else to do twith it now and its been sitting around for ages
