Nightrunner
Hi guys, Well, I've been determined to have some TWC in my army and finally decided that I would convert some - the idea of £150 for six Canis Wolfborns was a bit much for me. So here are some pics of the undercoated versions; my painting is nothing to write home about, but I just thought I would put these up to provide some inspiration for anyone who is interested. As an aside, I have to say that the LoTR Warg Chieftain is almost perfect to hold a tactical SM leg set; there is a thinning of the body on the back that allows a pair of SM legs to slot on with no alteration to posture. The head for each thunderwolf is simply taken from a Warhammer plastic wolf mount, cut to fit. They arent as massive as Canis, and in my own mind, are maybe a tiny bit too small still; however, overall, the posture of the model seems to carry the PA marines well. I also experimented with some scout legs, but decided to stick with power-armour all over. Hope you like. Grey Mage
I see what you did there... thats a WFB wolf head on that warg isnt it? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/185158-wip-thunderwolf-cavalry/#findComment-2189113 Share on other sites
Nightrunner
Yup. What do you think, mage? Too small? NR :nuke: Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/185158-wip-thunderwolf-cavalry/#findComment-2189115 Share on other sites
Grey Mage
They do look a bit small... the legs hang to low in my opinion. Also, while riding bare-back might be cool and nobly savage... it looks like the one with the runic sword is falling off. Growler67
They look good, but yeah.....too small in scale to be proportional mounts. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/185158-wip-thunderwolf-cavalry/#findComment-2189123 Share on other sites
Nightrunner
Lol, falling off indeed!!!! There is some equipment bits on the back, and I am currently experimenting with saddles on the others. However, for now, it'll do! ;) NR :nuke: Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/185158-wip-thunderwolf-cavalry/#findComment-2189125 Share on other sites
Grey Mage
Perhaps instead of a downward angle I could see one from the profile? It would help. slmellon
The first pic looks killer, very vicious looking wolf...but too small to be ridden. seeing as you seem ready to paint, its probably too late for repositioning, but i wonder how it would look if the riders were farther forward, basically riding on the front shoulders. Or putting the rider in a high saddle bringing the legs upwards. Just my two cents. at least you are trying to figure out a way. good hunting Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/185158-wip-thunderwolf-cavalry/#findComment-2189211 Share on other sites
