nurglespuss
Hi all, well while attending gaming club this evening, it turns out our battle was going to be 2 vs 1 spear head, with 3 objectives. Quick pic before battle started: http://photos-e.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc3/hs056.snc3/14340_334246020322_633810322_9502358_7603055_n.jpg OK I had brought a 1500 point list, but had to cut this down to 1050 (so that my team mate and I had 2100 in total). I took: Rune priest, terminator armour, chooser of the slain, JOTWW & Living Lightning Battle leader, Wolf claws, Jump Pack 5 long fangs, 2 x plasma cannon, 1 x missile launcher, 1 x lascannon 4 Long fangs, 2 x missile launcher, 1 x lascannon 10 grey hunters, flamer, melta gun, powerfist 5 grey hunters 6 blood claws, power weapon, razor back with heavy bolters, dozer blade, extra armour 5 sky claws My buddy had: Chapter master, lightning claw, combi melta, inv save (prob adamantium cloak), Tactical Squad, missile launcher, plasma gun Combat squad Dreadnought, multimelta & CCW Predator anihilator dev squad 4 x lascannon & signum dev squad 2 x plasma 2x lascannon & signum Our opponent, also with spacewolves: 3 x blood claw squads with rhinos Grey hunter squad 3 x landspeeders with multi meltas Predator anihilator Whirlwind Dev squad (2xHB, 1xMulti Melta, 1x Lascannon) Wolfguard battle leader, terminator armour, thunder armour, storm shield Wolf guard battle leader, storm shield, frost axe Rune priest, living lightning and hurricane ----------------------------------- So Stew and i were using 2 FOC's and our opponent got the first turn. Well, things really came down to the river crossings and the third objective (objectives 1 & 2 being placed in respective quarters and well defended). Disabled rhinos kept blocking the crossings, and some terrible armour saves and dangerous terrain tests crippled our opponent. However, by sneaking through the woods, and hiding behind the predator, my GHunters managed to claim objective 3 unnopposed! and held it for the last 3 turns of the game. Despite the massed heavy weapons on our side, and an orbital bombardment from the chapter master, only rhinos were killed. Living lightning proved to be quite deadly when combined with the chooser of the slain, as the unlimited range, and extra LOS granted by the chooser meant that pretty much 100% of the table was covered. The 3+ inv save of the storm shields is well worth noting, and kept one particular Wolf guard battle leader alive all game, also cover saves, and even going to ground, kept troops alive longer than one might expect. The landspeeders might have been a real headache had they survived longer, and the whirlwind was irritiating. I'm still no good with blood claws (squads still too small, and needs help when assaulting a squad). I definately need more troops, and rember this version of 40k is really a case of 'inv save or no save' for characters, when faced with deadly weapons all game. Cery enjoyable, and our opponent was very gracious! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/185165-yay-my-first-win-in-a-loooong-time/ Share on other sites

Night Runner
Congrats. I enjoyed the batrep. In the thread's name you say you haven't won in a long time. Is that because you haven't played in a long time or are you simply - how can I put it - a 'hopeless case' player. :P N.B. I was just joking no need for all the wolf brothers to gang up on me. :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/185165-yay-my-first-win-in-a-loooong-time/#findComment-2189664 Share on other sites
nurglespuss
LOL - a bit of both! I've been playing uncharted seas, space hulk, gothic etc. for a bit lately, with the odd 40k game. But, my track record of wins isn't very high, as I usually construct armies based on what I like the look of! Or on a theme etc. Hence in my other marine armies, I have bikes (which i suck at deploying/survivng 2 turns with) but I love how they look. I think the only 'tactical' army I have is my Imperial Fists, and thats just for the fact that i painted up so many tac squads! I play for fun, but wins feel good when they happen too!
