Chosen - Terminators or Power Armoured?

I've been bitten by the bug, having been exposed to gaming at a 2k level (and 1.5k only recently).

One unit I've never used is Chosen, as at 1k-1.5k it is a tough choice to justify. Looking at their entries, both varients are incredibly flexible and can fulfill a number of roles.

From your experience, which unit works better - power armour or terminators? Also what kind of set-up works better?

I realise that this will be affected by the composition of the rest of the list but what would you suggest generally?

One thing of note though, I don't want to go near termicide when it comes to terminators. I'm trying to avoid this tactic along with the dual lash-princes.

I ask as I am updating my list to 2k before I start my Blood Angels and have models for both - I simply need to prioritse my workload - I have the models for both in boxes.

Even avoiding termicide, I'd lean towards the terminators. They're cheap compared to loyalist terminators and can have combi-weapons (if you aren't termiciding them, combi-plasmas work well).

Add in 1 or 2 chainfists/power fists for big stuff defense depending on the number of terminators.

For my money, it comes down to 2 main issues

1) Deepstrike vs Outflank

Which do you prefer and which do you think you'll get more use out of. For me, deepstriking is better at getting close range units (Flamers/Melta) next to their target because you're not limited to coming in on a side. If you favor medium-long range weapons (Plasma), I like Outflanking because you're more likely to find a safe spot midfield and snipe side armor and infantry all game long.

2) Shock troops vs support unit

Here is where my personal opinions come into play. To me, Terminators are shock troops that join the battle, have a big impact immediately and then generally make a pain of themselves.

Chosen on the other hand, are more of a constant thorn on the opponent's side, maybe they don't make as big of a splash the turn they show up, but they have greater longevity because they aren't limited to combi-weapons.

Both units tend to focus on special weapon spamming over assaulting because of the difficulties in deploying them for assault.

Thanks for the feedback JamesI & minigun762.

Based on your input and my current train of thought with my list, I will definitely go with the Terminators (the fact that the models are gorgeous :D is also a bonus). It could certainly swing the tide of battle line or objective thats for sure. My force would definitely benefit from some added punch. As I only have one box, the squad size would be five - possibly six if I upgrade my HQ to termi armour (Chaos Lord - swapping DW for Termi Armour+Paired Lightning Claws means no change in points cost).

Reading the rules for Chaos Icons, deep striking Terminators seems to be a reasonably safe option (as my dire dice rolling generally makes deep striking unviable to me  ) - it certainly works well for lesser summoned daemons. Much as I would like a Land Raider, I simply cannot find the points for one in my list at present nor do I have the model readilly available.

Would you recommend taking an icon with this unit at all? Experience in the past couple of games has highlighted my need for icons generally (only one of my 3 squads of CSM has an icon as the first two were combined from smaller squads under the previous codex). The IofCG seems good value for points.

As far as power armoured Chosen go, they may be added at some point but for now they will simply remain an option for future expansion.

For a 5 man squad, the only Icons I'd consider would be IoCG (80% of the time) and IoS (20% of the time).

The advantage of Icon of Chaos Glory is simple, its cheap and it keeps your non-Fearless squads on the table alot longer. Do you NEED it with LD10? No. Is it nice to have? Yes.

Icon of Slaanesh was listed purely because its still really cheap (15 points) and if you don't take more then 1 Fist weapon (which you shouldn't with only 5 guys) you have the benefit of I5 Power Weapons, which ain't all bad.
