Black Templar army project WIP

They are coming along nicely.

I like all of the above, especially the dread, he's looking very smart!

Good choice of head for the chaplain - I used the same on my kit-bashed chappy!

Keep 'em coming!

What about Bob, and Bob's clone....Bob the 2nd?

This is something that will make no sense to anybody else but Part_Time_20 and myself...

I mentioned in the first post that this is my friend's army, and that it is a collaborative effort. Well, Part_Time_20 is that friend, and things are coming along quite nicely! We have had the chance to play a number of small-point games, using his miniatures that are painted, as well as some bigger battles using proxies. (No unpainted miniatures on the table... it's just how our group rolls...)

Personally, I really like working on an army with someone else. Certain aspects are quite efficient, as it's always better to have twice the people helping complete things, and, more importantly, a different person is going to catch mistakes that you are can't see anymore.

All in all, this is a neat project, and the current goal is an 1850pt tourney list complete by mid-February, for a local Con.

Your BTs are looking great! I just decided to go back to mine, they've been on the back burner for quite a while.

I do have one question... How did you do the gold on your Termie Chaplain in post #19? I have never been satisfied with the golds I've tried to create.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thank you <_<

How did you do the gold on your Termie Chaplain in post #19? I have never been satisfied with the golds I've tried to create.

Gold is the banding on my Chaos army - it's a bit of a signature for me. The recipe is fairly simple, but unfortunately requires supplies that are no longer available...

Step 1 -- Mix Ianden Darksun (GW foundation yellow) into your gold. Not so much that you can't see the metal flake... a little goes a long way! Block in your color.

Step 2 -- Slightly thinned GW Chestnut ink with just a bit of Elmer's (PVA) glue in it. Wash liberally. Let dry thoroughly.

Step 3 -- Drybrush straight gold. That's it. And the results look like a million bucks.

If you are really looking for the last bit of oomph, do a very very light drybrush of Mithril Silver on the extreme edges.

Since you can't get Chestnut ink anymore, the Gryphonne Sepia wash is pretty close -- close enough to work. As with the ink, let it dry thoroughly! Overnight in best.

UPDATE -

Emperor's Champion, Marshalls (using Sword Brethren models) and Chaplain Bitzbox all coming along nicely.

I really need to smooth out the cloth.

This guy was bugging me on a subconscious level for quite some time. I didn't realize until recently what it was he was missing... Then it struck me that he had no Rosarius...

Now he looks like a Chaplain.

Part_Time_20 has painted up another 10 Initiates, I just need to do final details and Decals.

Part_Time_20 is also most of the way finished with a Drop Pod.

Land Raider Crusader #1 is being built.

Dreadnaught #2 is coming along nicely.

Here are some good photos of the Marshals, Chaplains, and Dread #1.

Yes, the 'Marshals' are Sword Brethren miniatures. I think they are cool.

The 20 on the objective marker was centered, I used too much Solvaset and they floated around a bit...

Through a killer trade I have an extra set of FW Templar Shields. I might use one here...

All the WIP magnetic Dreadnought arms, not including the ones photographed on the AoBR dread (AC and DCCW, nor the ones pictured below, LC and ML) Yes, there are 12 in total so far!!

Hey, missed this update!

That is some real good armament for your dread - in preparation for the new C:BT later this year (crosses fingers) by any chance?

I like what you did with the storm shield!

Is the band on the normal dread free-handed? If so, nice work!

A bit of progress - This is an incredible model. I am going to need to make some hero arms for him, the 'normal' dreadnought arms are a bit too plain. The shield at his feet will be on one of them.

Next in line for Dreads - a FW Chaplain Dreadnought... ^_^

Yes, this project is moving very slowly. Still, there has been some progress...

Land Raider Crusader number 1. Complete except for dullcote.

Sponsons, front turret, top hatches/gunner all magnetized.

Next up, the first Terminator squad.

As promised, Terminators.

I need to do a bit more highlighting, but in general, I like them!

Most Illustrious Brother Pytor Gryfon was never happy with just telling the battlefield he was a Black Templar... One day, he wondered if he could tell the entire sector...

Like I promised earlier, I wanted to make a set of completely bling-bling hero arms for this model. I think they fit the look very well!
