wizard12
I've been looking for a bit of a challenge. With X-mas items I plan to start deathwing but thats another thread. this thread is me asking about radical daemonhunters and their faveroute toy; the daemon host. but I don't really like how the radical army list leave only about 1/3 of the codex rule avalable to I thought I add a deatchment of guard. my question to you is how to go about making and collecting and playing a radical army? How often can it work? Could this be the chalenge I look for? Ideas on guardsmen deatched to the daemon hunters or should I just "By the immortal emperour of mankind" them? Please help. number6
Although we can't help you actually build such an army, the best radical codex is actually IG with allied DH. Take the IG army you want, but save points enough to buy an I-lord and, for you allied Elite slot, your daemonhosts. Done. This will get you WAY more options than is available from the DH codex. The only things the DH codex can offer you that you wouldn't be able to get by going base IG is Assassins (as you don't have enough allied slots to include them) and orbital strikes. Assassins you don't really need. Really, only the Callidus and Eversor are any good, and as fun as they are, they won't ever make or break any army you include them in. And orbital strikes are, for practical purposes, useless. I don't know anybody who even fears them anymore, and their primary use is as a psychological weapon. Inquisitor Fox
Another option is to use the DH Codex as the Parent, take your HQ Inquisitor Lord, Daemonhosts, your required 2 choices of ISTs, then take Relictor Space Marines, or another similar chapter with a questionable history of daemon weapons. A search through the librarium here should provide information on the Relictors. Chengar Qordath
You could also go with a Marine list and add in Daemonhunter allies, which has the advantage of being legal for discussion on B&C. There are certainly several chapters like the Relictors and Soul Drinkers that are flexible enough on Imperial dogma to be willing to work with an ultra-radical Inquisitor. silversmith82
As stated, definitely DO NOT use the DH as the parent codex for a Radical army. I love the Relictors idea personally. Slap a big honkin demon weapon on a Captain and have it count as a Relic blade or any one of the special characters can count as a Relictor with a particularly nasty demon weapon. Moonfang and the Fist of Dorn are a few good examples. Moonfang's instant death on a 6 could be a soul steal. Wow, I just figured out how to bring Soul Reaver into 40K... Or your typical requisitioned guard army works well here too. The problem with demonhosts is they are too damn unpredictable. They can work spectacularly or they can do nothing at all. However the Inquisitor can be tooled out pretty nicely and in a guard army with a million guns his anti deep striking will be a godsend. Marid
Here's a little related question: Do space marine teleport homers work for non-terminator teleporting? The language is a bit fuzzy in the SM Codex, but I believe they should work. The reason I ask is that Daemonhosts teleport from time to time... Gibious
I don't know anybody who even fears them anymore. I do, my allys! By taking a radical inquisitor you are no longer allowed Grey Knights, I personally cannot live without decent amount of Power Armor. So Inducted SM'S for me. -Gib- Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/185240-radical-inquision-who-should-i-join-with-them/#findComment-2190616 Share on other sites
