molsonbeagle
Hey folks. Short time lurker. New space pup convert (yah, I'm one of 'those') I had bought an AoBR set to supplement my Orks and was wildly unimpressed with the Ultramarines that i had initially painted them, they were so...blah. So i decided to look into other chapters...and lo and behold, the Pups came out!! Anyway, with the AoBR lot and also a pack of Space wolves, i've been able to add up around 1k points, making a Wolf Priest. What with christmas coming and me being a father of 2, theres not a lot of money for my hobbies. So on to my question...What should I do with the shoulder pads? I've seen several different pics of them, some just have skulls on the shoulder, some are black and yeller, some are just black. So any help would be appreciated. I can post up the Wolf Priest if anybody is interested. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/185264-wolf-priest/ Share on other sites
Jonny Wolf
Right Shoulder: Yellow and Red = Blood Claw Red and Black = Grey Hunter Black and White = Long Fang Yellow and Black = Wolf Guard Left shoulder is the great company markings (Ragnar for example is Yellow background with the black wolf's head on the front - the most common you'll see in the codex or on GW websites). But ultimately you can do whatever you like. That's what's so great about Space Wolves, it's your Great Company...go for it. molsonbeagle
While I don't want to sound rude, thanks, but I know the basic markings of the squads, my question is for spicifically the Wolf Priest. Googling Wolf priest and clicking images doesn't seem to have much consistancy. Jonny Wolf
Ok, no prob. Typically a WP is all black (along the lines of vanilla marine chaplains) with whatever trim (gold is popular) you want to give him. The Wolf Priest (and Rune Priests, Iron Priests and Dreadnaughts) are actually assigned to Logan's Great Company and attached to the other great companies (although this could be for centuries). Therefore, the WP, RP and IPs usually dont' have a great company pauldron. molsonbeagle
Alright, So essentially black shoulderpads, mayhaps with a white space pups symbol, and the other pure black, perhaps with decoration? I think i can do that...hell, blacks all kinds of easy to paint, haha. Thanks for the help, I appreciate it. Not sure if I conveyed that. :pinch: Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/185264-wolf-priest/#findComment-2190418 Share on other sites

Therefore, the WP, RP and IPs usually dont' have a great company pauldron. All Priests and dreadnoughts are part of the Great Wolf´s Great Company and not of Logan´s Night Runners. And they have a great company pauldron like any other SW. It shows the upstanding wolf surrounded by stars on midnight blue backround, the symbol of Russ. Ullr Direfang
Jonny you always seem to be the first one to these kinds of posts, and i have showed up to mess with you posts again and probably confuse molsonbeagle. back on topic: basically you can paint them how every you want. Black and gold are very favorable colors for a Wolf Priest. for mine, i am going to have them be mostly black with gold trim and what not, but one shoulder pad is going to be red (my secondary color) to show that he is attached to my company. and his other is going be black but get the "wolf that stalks between the stars" one his other in my version of space wolf grey.
