Jarl Bloodwolf
ive searched and searched but theres so many posts about wolf gaurd its hard to find my answer so i figure ill just ask it. can you take Wolf gaurd as an independant squad to itself like a normal veteran/TDA unit or do they have to be body gaurds/unit leaders? Ragnar Blood Giver
I think they would need a WGBL. if you read the last book in the regnar books it was bareks WGBL who lead the fight against the thousand sons, he who turned wulfen... but as the name sugests wolf gard battle leader... so to me Arjac as grimnars champion would be a leader, but he is only an elite.... if logan instructed 1 of his WG to take 10 packs of GH into battle, they would follow him as if he was logan, as a WG you have earned that respect. I would say yes, but the dex won't allow it unless I have misread things... which I'm prone to do Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/185409-wolf-gaurd-unit-question/#findComment-2192310 Share on other sites
Duke Corwin
Actually you by the wolf guard as a pack then if you choose to you can assign members to other packs prior to the battle. There is no rule stating you have to assign any wolf guard to other packs as leaders, it's optional. If any wolf guard are left after assingning leaders (or if no leaders are assigned) the pack operates as an independant pack in all respects (it's worth on kill point in this case). Finally if Logan Grimnar is in the game the wolf guard pack counts as troops so it can hold objectives too. Ragnar Blood Giver
@brother corwain i think that what you stated is correct but brother bloodwulf ask for clarification on whether you can have an indepenant wolf gard running around causing havoc. their are a number of ways to get around this, but to keep it simple WGBL means what it means battle leader from the wolf gard.. so imo a WGBL should be a HQ choice not an elite, that way he could lead an army of BC/GH/LF and WG and as a point arjac as grimnars champion (and he costs loads) should be able to lead as a HQ and give troop choice, he has this and that but he is still not as powerful as lord grimnar... but this is fluff the dex dose not allow it... WGBL are HQs as per page 85 verse the WG on page 86.... you don't need one to lead a WG pack. a WGBL is just a WG that a WL or Logan said "hey you are in charge on this one" and then they went back to what ever it was that they have to concentrate on. just because WGBLs and WG share the same page in the 'dex that covers their fluff doesn't mean that they the same force organization chart spot. slmellon
as someone said, you buy a squad of wolf guard and then assign them as you see fit...they dont have to lead they can be a squad in there own right, the only thing you basically cant do is split em into two diffferent squads, which could be cool, half in tda, half in pa...you could give em all jump packs.
