Artekus Posted November 22, 2009 Share Posted November 22, 2009 Hello guys and girls! Some many have seen my finished squad of relictors in the hall of honour. Most probably have not :angry: Anyhow, here's the deal. I purchased the space marine battle company during the first apocalypse release, and decided to go for my favourite chapter, the Relictors. Stern marines that belive chaos is a power they can ensnare and enforce themself. Using it as a weapon against itself. This led them to become a outlaw chapter, hunted by the Inquisition. In the latest codex, this fluff seem to have disappeared but I'm standing fast on the old background about them, that they fled utter extinction and now reside somewhere in the outskirts of the eye of terror, still hunting for artifacts to use in the name of the Emperor of mankind. So, sure they suffered a crippling blow from the attack of the grey knights, but I imagine them still going strong and reforming the chapter so they still can utilise the codex astartes and it's teachings. Therefore I'm gonna do this! Build an entire battle company of them. I'm also gonna take a go at making their chapter master, Artekus Bardane, and a honour guard for him, and some other cool stuff (read, dreads and sternguard) that is not part of the company. ROME ftw :angry: Next up is finishing the tac squad, and then to start the paintjob on my devastator squad and my sternguard veterans (pics will come ^^) Then I'm really starting to yearn to put my converting knife on one of those sweet sweet Iron Clad Dreadnoughts :) That's it for now gents and gals! I imagine that the grunts aren't trusted enough to carry the enemies wargear. How I paint white: No big secret, I use the awesome colour Morrow White from the P3 paint line (from privateer press). Two layers is often enough to get a good result on the freehands on black undercoat. The helmet on the veteran sergeant is also P3 paints, but this time the Menoth White Base, and then Menoth White Highlight! Thanks for the comments! More pics coming soon! More pics coming soon! good to see the relictors getting some love! i recently got myself a sword from the new chaos night kit that im going to make a new captain for my old relictors army with for something differant to build/paint. that shield you have next to yours will fit in with the armies background well i think, though i would have thought that a relictor would be more likely to "acquire" a weapon than a shield.... regards the white, ive never heard of those paints, i might have to see if the store i get my paints through stock them, will come in handy for my Iron hands. anyway, keep up the good work dude, coz they look brilliant so far ^^ EDIT: theres also a chaos maruader sword that would work rather well as a demon weapon imo. Artekus Posted November 23, 2009 Author Share Posted November 23, 2009 Well... it's not really blending at all I'm afraid :D I spray my models with army painters grey spray... and then wash them to that standard (2 steps of badab black wash). The freemasons where an autoinclude :P scientologists next!! :P and the captain came out great RE the pose. nice choice of base model too. and the mob i get my stuff through dont have the menoth paint kit QQ they do however stock the army painter sprays which i might give a try, expecially if they are as good as you say. Artekus Posted November 24, 2009 Author Share Posted November 24, 2009 I've never faced any problems with the army painter sprays, however I have heard complaints about them. They are primers and not base coats so they are a bit trickier to use. You should try to use long bursts when you prime with it, and also make sure to shake it for at least 2 minutes before using it the first time, then to be really sure there is no paint left in the exit point after using it, so turn it upside-down and spray until only gas is coming out. That said, test them! They are awesome! I spray all my models in this army with their Uniform Grey, and I know a friend who uses the blue primer for his ultras. As for the army painter sprays I find that they tend to get fuzzy quite easily so make sure to always test spray in a piece of sprue first. My personal take on Relictors is that they should just look just like any other chapter until you see elites/HQ's wielding outlandish chaotic weaponry. Love the =][= and Daemon Host.
