a titan hunter/tracked battleship

Recommended Posts

ok, so i made an attempt a while ago at making a tracked battleship (it didn't go so well...)

now i'm going to try again, here's he base idea.

main armament, earthshaker cannons (twin linked on the front turret, and single rear mount)

secondary armament, single mount LRBT battle cannons

tertiary armament, hvy bolters and lascannons.

not sure how i'm going to make the main turrets, but i plan on using an imperial bastion, to make the 'command' section of the vehicle where the 'bridge' would be, and just use a LRBT for the secondary turrets, and using turrets from a USS Arizona model w/ the appropriate tertiary weapons glued in, to create the proper tertiary turrets.

where i'm really stuck, is the hull, and what to use. (i'm don't have a lot of money, nor do i know how to use plasticard, all the parts i either already have, or will be putting the kits on my x-mas list.)

any way, what do you guys think of my rough design idea so far, as well as the over all idea of it?

it will be used when titan legios are strapped and on the ropes, a squadron or two, would be used to counter warhounds, and in general hold the line against any large armoured assault.

thinking about naming it the Tyrant Class Super Hvy Tank. Any thing better you can think of for a name?

It sounds like you are trying to make a AM Ordinatus weapon,....not necessarily a super heavy battle tank. Maybe expand the parameters a bit,...dont think tank per say; think war machine. Just a thought, hope it helps.

is an ordinatus a specific type of machine, or is it just a general term for any non-titan super heavy?

An Ordinatus is a Titan-sized treaded weapons platform that tends to be unique to its world of construction and has a massive weapon system that tends to be unique to that platform. Examples are treaded units that mount a spaceship-scale energy weapon, or a sonic weapon capable of shattering a world, or cannon that fires micro-black holes, etc. The concept you are proposing is very much within the normal guide lines of an Ordinatus. Also, there are Imperial Guard Leviathans, massive treaded command fortresses with huge cargo spaces and massed batteries of ordnance weaponry that are built on the same scale as Titans and Ordinatus.

i'm not looking quite on the levithan scale, but something that is only a little bit bigger than a baneblade.

like i said, when against titans they will work in squadrons.

Well, I'm an old time Ogre player and long time Keith Lamar fan, so I say go for it. If it were me, I'd use two SH Tank hulls as the front and back bogies with the main hull supported on-top and between the two tracked units. This gives you a lot of footage to mount heavy turrets, defensive emplacements, fire points, and a command super-structure.

sounds like an idea.

but plans just got put on hold i'll need the couple hundred dollars it'll cost to make that to either fix my poor car or buy a new one.

Or take the time to learn to build with plasticard. All it takes is some planning and a bit of practice. You just use model cement to stick it together. Nice and cheap, and you can make any shape you want. Unless you want a curved piece. If that's what you want, tough luck. ;)

well, as it turns out my dad worked w/ a guy selling a car for $450 so i don't owe a huge amount of money, and my dad won't let me pay him back, so my cash has freed up again ;)

though i do feel bad about not paying him back...

any way. here's what i was sort of thinking, buy two baneblades, and use the track section, and attach them to one an appropriately sized cardboard box...and use pieces of the hull and what not to help make it look a bit better than track sections glued to a cardboard box.

and like i said, and imperial bastion would be set up a bit higher, and that would be the command area/bridge.

Are you a psychic that can burrow into other people's minds? I have a similar idea, allthough mine is based on three shadowsword hulls (put together so they form a single track unit on each side) and using the shadowsword superstructures as turrets to mount two front and rear twin-linked volcano cannons and upper turret-mounted dual-barreled turbo laser destructor as primary armament, and four punisher gatling cannon turrets as secondary armament. (kinda inspired by WW2 battleships/cruisers)

lol, i had this idea a while ago, and it turned out horribly... ;)

but now i have MUCH more solid idea of what i want to do w/ it structurally.

now i just need the money. ^_^

any way, when/if you start post some pics, and i'll post some when/if i start (if/when i figure out how to post a pic on here...)

and i didn't want to use any 'titanic' weapons, i figured just earthshakers/baneblade cannons would be fine.

i've seen plenty of batreps, where a few bassies took out a reaver and in one case a warlord (no titans were on the imperial side) now how rare that would be idk, but i figured a full broadside or two, should be able to do some damage to a titan (not to mention provide a hefty road block to infantry and light armour.)

Well you said battleship so i got to thinking this:

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/comm...n_schematic.JPG

obviously this would be a reference guide but i was thinking with weapons (using the same number designations as on the Iowa)

1. 1 Quake/ Volcano Gun fixed (have to face the whole vehicle to fire in whatever direction)

2.1-4 Lascannon Batteries (TL) (2-8 barrels)

3. 4 HK Missles

4&5. 4-8 TL H. Bolters

To even it out a bit I was thinking use the LR Terminus(?) rules for the Lascannon

For the Armor Values I thought Front 14, Sides 13, Rear 11 or 12

Just a thought, if you dont like it let me know so I can use the idea

that's what i was thinking, but i can't afford 6-9 barrels for the main armament, and since the guns on WWII BBs are technically artillery i figured earthshaker would be the best in game representation.

and to keep the WWII sort of look going i'd put on some stubbers as AA. 4-5 pintle mount stubbers. cuz i'm pretty sure in apoc. pintle mounts are considered AA. so it would also make a decent deterrent against fliers that way, plus it's regular tertiary weapons (HBs and LasCans) firing at them.
