antique_nova
So how doooooo you objective sit? razorbacks and GH? rhinos with GH and a rune priest? or long fangs with wolf guard and logan leading a charge? How effective are you objective sitting units? *Here's your ale as well and the meat will come once you have placed a comment in :cuss. thanks antique_nova Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/185578-so-how-do-you-objective-sit/ Share on other sites
ChaosPhoenix
At the moment, I use 10 Grey Hunters with 2 Plasmas and a Rune Priest while 6 Longfangs are somewhere near. In the next game, I'll use Njal himself as chief of defense. edit: And thanks for the Ale. Lord Howland Greywolf
I use a simple phrase: I don't want the world, I just want you're half. In other words I concentrate on attacking his objectives and if there is time, then I go after the ones in my half of the table. Chaotic Death
For objectives close to my deployment zone, I use 10x Grey Hunters in Rhinos. For objectives near my opponent's deployment zone, I use 10x Grey Hunters in drop pods. If I need to clear an objective, I will use Blood Claws. Hjaertrr
5 man hunter unit with plasma, WG w/ combi plasma, razorback with LC and TLPG. antique_nova
hmmm. just about what i thought everyone would do. i am still surprised that some people use 10x GH with rhino and sit on it at home. thanks antique_nova Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/185578-so-how-do-you-objective-sit/#findComment-2194880 Share on other sites
Hfran Morkai
10 Grey Hunters with two plasma guns and a fist is my ideal holding unit but would only be used in larger games, I don't really try holding in 1500 and under, go for the jugular! Loki-LaughingDeath
Screw objectives. Kill everything. Auto-win. Next game. (My preferences are... esoteric.) Thirds for me! I feel that sitting there on the objective means that you are giving your opponent the inititive to take the game away from you. He cannot do that if he does not have any troops. Besides that is more in the flavor of the history of our chapter. We might be more reckless about it and take more casualties but we do it with style and glory! DV8
I think it'll depend heavily on my opponent and his army, the objectives, and the terrain. There are times it is advantageous to pressure my opponent, and there are times it is better to sit back and force him to move. My entire army is mobile so that I can do either well, without worrying about having to take objectives early on. antique_nova
what if you have a bad game? or the enemy has fire more firepower than you? and you have an objective right near your deployment zone and having an objective sitting squad there could either win you the game or draw. This applies for all gamers wiht lists that are average to GT competitive. If you play for fluff, then there is no way that you would want that. i mean who would want to be on the sidelines when you have short ranged weapons? cos i sure hell wouldn't! thanks antique_nova Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/185578-so-how-do-you-objective-sit/#findComment-2194909 Share on other sites
Spacefrisian
i park Bjorn next to my objective and have GH sit behind him. If they destroy Bjorn than i claim 2 objectives. antique_nova
very expensive tactic. didn't see that coming. how many GH sit behind him? What if someone deepstrikes behind the dread and kills the GH first in an objective game? and what if your opponent knows what your doing and chooses not to kill him? thanks antique_nova Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/185578-so-how-do-you-objective-sit/#findComment-2194943 Share on other sites

Sandokann
I use 5 GH with a Plasma Gun hidding behind 6 LFs, cheap and effective IMO. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/185578-so-how-do-you-objective-sit/#findComment-2194964 Share on other sites
rodgers37
I don't very often tbh, i find it too hard to sit something on an objective, unless in capture and control, where you need to sit on your own objective :S Unless in a Land Raider, there not safe enough i don't think, i don't bother with objectives really till turn 4, i think about it before, and if i kill something near an objective, will probably stay there, but, other than that, i try a rush to objectives, or try and kill the enemy  Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/185578-so-how-do-you-objective-sit/#findComment-2194967 Share on other sites
Hjaertrr
In 1.5k, whilst not experimenting as i'm prone to do, I have my squad mentioned earlier for objective camping, 2 in rhinos and one in a drop pod, I find it provides tactical flexibility. antique_nova
however, whatever you use out of those three troops choices. one of them won't be able to do much for the entire game and they will be easy pickings from experience. as they objective sit. or you place an over expensive squad there in a rhino. thanks antique_nova Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/185578-so-how-do-you-objective-sit/#findComment-2194982 Share on other sites
Wispy
err... I don't? in a 1000 points, I'm often scrambling back to my own objective after I've mostly annihilated the opposition. in 1500 points, I'll have a cheap 5 man Grey Hunter squad whose job is to sit there. They might be accompanied by a dreadnought, depending on if the enemy has outflanking or not. Jonas Stromclaw
2X 10 man GH pack w/2 plasma guns. Primarily to claim objectives and a counter assault unit for my LF/LST/RP firebase.
