So how do you objective sit?

Because I use allies or logan my campers are either:

10 Wolf Guard (9x Power Weapon/Storm Bolter, 1x Frost Blade/Stormbolter, Rhino)

or

9 Grey Knights, 1 Justicar (2 Psycannons, Unguents of Warding)

if I was using Grey Hunters, chances are it would be:

10 Grey Hunters (2 Plasmaguns, 1 Mark of Wulfen, Rhino) with possibly a Rune Priest (Storm Caller and Tempest's Wrath)

Generally speaking though, Eliminate opponents works best (as Decoy said).

I'll throw in a vote for 10 Grey Hunters with 2 Plasma guns and Pack leader - TDA, CML, PF for 233 points. Add a Rune Priest if points allow and you have a monster of a pack which will be fairly difficult to remove.

Annihilation is a good point though

with my new 2k foot slogging list i will use 3 packs of long fangs + 1 GH pack with dual plasma for objective sitting....and the other 60 marines (with scouts) to annihilate the enemy army

before i used one GH pack with 2 plasma + WG with PF and combi weapon for objective sitting supported by one long fang pack

but i usually camp only in capture and control in all other modes i only sit with the fire support units near an objective and the rest of the army trys to kill as much as possible (much more effective then camping)

2X 10 man GH pack w/2 plasma guns. Primarily to claim objectives and a counter assault unit for my LF/LST/RP firebase. (I leave the assaulting to my wolf lord and his crazy skyclaws)

Ditto. I add a Wolf Guard (Combiplasma + Wolf Claws) to to both units for the Ld boost and one also has my Rune Priest in it. Anything that gets close gets shot to bits and then has a murderous hurricane dropped on it's head. Good luck taking that objective! The only time I've lost an objective was when one pack went toe to toe with most of an eldar army ... so they're pretty effective.

I have another GH and a BC pack in rhinos to take other objectives from the enemy.

For objectives close to my deployment zone, I use 10x Grey Hunters in Rhinos. For objectives near my opponent's deployment zone, I use 10x Grey Hunters in drop pods. If I need to clear an objective, I will use Blood Claws.

+1

Despite the feelings of how BC's are, they are a great tool for clearing objectives. I would hazard to say better than GH's in a way.

AS long as they have someone leading them they can stay on the Obj. they have just mercilessly cleared.

But as Decoy says, be aggressive and just wipe out your opponent. Thats the old RT way of playing.

seems like the recent commentors just shoot with wolves and send a squad or two to pelt the enemy. I play a heck of alot more aggressively with marines. I do play defensive though, with guard.

Just for myself, I wouldn't consider leaving 350 points in defense while 1400 points attack as defensive. Most games are mission objective based, securing one is offense too. I've won many battles with holding more objectives although my forces wouldn't last 1-2 rounds more.

I like the following for 1500pts:

5 GH

WG in TDA + CML + Chain fist

Rune priest with living lighning

The range of the RP and CML mean they aren't completely wasted in the backlines and they provide protection for long fangs. The GH unit basically serve as additional wounds for the unit.

No need for a rhino or drop pod because they can reach the objective in plenty of time while walking and firing away.

Add a wolf standard if there are points to spare and upgrade to 10 GH w/2xplasma in higher point games

not really one to camp if I can help it but if I'm grabbing one somewhere then its 10x GH with 2x plasma and a wolf priest ideally. Fearless troops are a nightmare. Sitting a lone wolf on one is tempting to contest it (while shouting come and get it too).

Just my opinion here, but I'd say having a Wolf Priest babysit your Rear Consolidation (objective sitting) force is a waste. With his Oath of granting Prefered Enemy, if you are even going to bother taking the WP he needs to be with one of your Assault Units to make him worth while. Sure, Fearless if fine, but with ATSKNF, your Grey Hunters will auto-regroup anyway (as long as they aren't too close to the rear table edge and run off of it). I'm just not convinced that it's worth the 100 point investment just to make them Fearless.

For my Rear Consolidation force, I'm using a full Grey Hunter Pack with 2x Plasma Guns and a Power Fist. I had used the same pack, except with a Power Weapon, and really missed having the Fist when a Drop Pod with a Combat Squad of Blood Angels dropped in by my Objective, and two Attack Bikes drove in to lend them a hand. The Grey Hunters were able to defeat them, eventually, but it the combat would have gone much quicker with if I'd had the Power Fist around, so I added it back into the unit. When I get my Wolf Guard Terminator with Cyclone Missile Launcher and Chain Fist built, I will have him Lead the Rear Consolidation unit, but I haven't had much modelling time lately.
