The Normish
Hello everyone. I was wondering if you people could help me out with my Chapter of Space Marines. First of all, if I post any pictures, they will likely be bad quality until I finally figure out how to work that confounded camera. Secondly, tell em what you think of this color scheme I devised for my Chapter: Black helmets and black armor, gold trimmings (on shoulders and chest eagle), mechrite red shoulder pads, red eyes, and red knees (left or right). Mechrite red backpacks. For sergeants, the helmet would be red, but the face part of the helmet (what is that called, anyway) would be white. Also, a portion of the backpack would be golden, trimmings would be white. Captains are painted the same way as the tactical marines. Well, what do you think? I'll try and get some [pictures for you all to see. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/185611-my-own-chapter/ Share on other sites
Octavulg
Use the Space Marine Painter (list is at the top of the board), then post the image and ask for comment. From the sounds of things, you've taken the two most overused colors (red and black) and put them together. While it sounds like it'll look OK, I just can't get enthused about the idea of more red and black marines. I'd also be unexcited by grey. Personally, I've always thought of that part of the helmet as the muzzle. I've also thought people who tried to paint it another color were asking for problems. The problem is see, many are already painted. onipunk
Looks a bit garbled. Come up with an easy one or two-colour scheme for your first army. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/185611-my-own-chapter/#findComment-2195053 Share on other sites
The Normish
Looks a bit garbled. Come up with an easy one or two-colour scheme for your first army. I'm not sure I understand. Isn't black and red simple? If you mean the sergeant, well, not many of them actually are wearing helmets, so... Dejay
There's too many colours dotted around there for my liking. There first shceme is alright, but the second is too all over the place. The Normish
There's too many colours dotted around there for my liking. There first shceme is alright, but the second is too all over the place. Hm. Luckily, there is only one model painted like that. So, for sergeants, what do you recommend? Full red, full white, another color, or black like the tactical marines (but with some other markings). Dejay
I would paint him the same as the first guy, and maybe just change the helmet and to red, or gold, and if you are comfortable freehanding paint some detail on his helmet. sgtNACHO
I would keep the first scheme throughout the whole army, maybe give Captains more red or something. Give Sarges a red helm. The Normish
Thanks for all the suggestions. Now if only I could get some paint... Alright, with a color scheme mostly set up, what should I call them? They are an Imperial Fists Successor chapter, so I was thinking "Ascending Fists", or even "Doom Guard". If you all have any suggestions, they would be appreciated. sgtNACHO
I like Doom Guard! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/185611-my-own-chapter/#findComment-2195404 Share on other sites
CDR Grendelwulf
@The Normish: If you are still open to suggestions, I would suggest the Sergeants' helms be gold. Red helms would get lost between the red shoulder pads and red backpack. The shoulder pad trim should reflect the company colours, like the Imperial Fists do. Their distinctive fist color reminds me of the way the Crimson Fists mark their armour. So, here would be my list: Fists of Midas (hey, if there can be chapters like Sons of Orar, Sons of Medusa, etc...) Avenging Fists Doom Fists Doom Gauntlets Emperor's Guardians Ciao, CDR Grendelwulf Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/185611-my-own-chapter/#findComment-2195440 Share on other sites
The Normish
Alright. I altered the color scheme a bit. These are the updated Doom Guard heraldic colors: Tactical Marine, Sergeant, and Captain. Comments and Criticism welcome. Vlad III
I would recommend keeping the Sarge having both red insets in his shoulder pads. I feel like that's a bit too much gold for simply a sergeant. Brother Emund
If you PM Dazzo, he might be able to add your Chapter emblem to your marines shoulder pads ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/185611-my-own-chapter/#findComment-2200047 Share on other sites
