Natanael
Hi guys. I've got an upcoming tournament, and today while trying to figure out what to have in my list, I realised that I had 5 WHFB Chaos Marauder Horsemen. I began thinking of how I could use them as counts-as TWC, and then it ocurred to me: Why not try and make them wolves? If I fail, no big deal, since I bought them to get the weapon arms and heads anyway. If i succeed, on the other hand: JOY! Then I got 5 thunderwolves really cheap. So I started, and went until my GS was depleted. Here are some pics of the progress so far, but have in mind that this is my first ever try at something this big with GS. Usually just do gap-filling, and stuff like that. Also, this is very early WIP, so don't expect too much. (I don't know how to make the pics appear in the post, so you get links. Anyone want to explain to me how I do it, you'll have pic instead of links) http://img695.imageshack.us/i/img0072u.jpg/ http://img187.imageshack.us/i/img0071hb.jpg/ http://img695.imageshack.us/i/img0069a.jpg/ The guy on top of the "wolf" is just held together by blue-tac and there for size. Any comments and suggestions are very welcome. Gonna go get some more GS tomorrow, and then I'll be able to continue. Cheers! nurglespuss
EEK Resize the images!!! They are huge!! http://img695.imageshack.us/img695/4580/img0072u.jpghttp://img187.imageshack.us/img187/6671/img0071hb.jpghttp://img695.imageshack.us/img695/1480/img0069a.jpg Hi there! you see the icons above the typing frame? theres: b i u (a green +) and a small 'painting/picture' click on that, paste the picture link (right click on pic, properties, copy link), and you'll be away! I'm interested in what I see so far, its a different idea. To remove some of the 'horsey' aspect (i.e. the shape) I would say barrel out the chest, and bulk the tops of the legs, and fron shoulders  can't wait to see more! Natanael
Thx for the help w/ the pics and the tips. I'll try to bulk out the legs and do the rest of the body today. I've been thinking about the head, and I think I'm gonna try to sculpt it even tough I suck at that kind of stuff. More pics coming tonight then... nurglespuss
Hi there ^_^ OK if you want a decent go at sculpting the head, a couple of things might help: First off, if you can, remove the horses head, if you can. Now either glue the head to a base (so you have something to hold) or pin it to a weighted cork etc. Shave/trim of everything on the horses head, so its fairld smooth. Now personally, I would try and change the shape of the horses head (using green stuff) to resemble a wolves skull (in basic form) and let that cure. Then start adding the 'flesh' to build up the shape (using strips looks good) and when that cures, start overlaying fur, carefully keeping to the shape. Possibley avoid 'teeth' for now until you practice on this one. I hope that helps! good luck! Night Runner
You seem to be doing a good job, but the proportions of a horse are not those of a wolf. In sculpting class, it is indoctrinated into us that proportion is everything, it comes before pose or detail. Now I know Fenris wolves are not earth wolves, but you are building on a horse frame. Personally I would have shortened the hind legs a tad before putting on the green stuff in order to make it more wolf-like. Also build your fur in stages. Don't do large areas all at once and try sculpting the fur to match the muscle contours. Natanael
Great tips, Night Runner! Gonna have to do this all over again I think. I also forgot to get more GS while at the shop yesterday, you might have to wait unit the weekend to get some more.
