rcm2216
How are those drop pod Space Wolf armies working for you? Also in addition, how has it been working with IG Mech armies? Grey Mage
With, or against? And do you mean mech as in supported by tanks or running in chimeras? Because its a very different thing. Against IG, with tank support its working wonderfully... drop in, meltagun a few tanks, use dreadnaughts to shield against the firepower of a couple more and heavy flamer some infantry.... take alot of lasgun fire, stand firm *I make alot of armor saves most days, its a trademark*. Then proceed to assault anything that wasnt smart enough to get out of rapid fire range- most imperial commanders wont run that far, or that fast. They want to be able to hit you with what they have left, not take rapid fire wounds themselves be retreating. Speaking of assault cannons, wonderful amazing things- use them on heavy weapon platforms, always. Str 6 will insta-gib them, and with 4 shots youll usually take the whole darn unit! I reccomend a pair of landspeeders at 1500pts to get more firepower on the table- a Typhoon and a MM works well for me. Superb firepower, and the typhoon has simply unparralleled flexability for its cost in a FA slot. Ramora
Firstly Dreads are horrible. So are speeders. Drop pods have been working great for me. I took second in a 1500pt tourney mostly because I thought I could do enough damage to an ork list filled with boyz on first turn that I could weather the CC storm.. I was wrong but still it was pretty close.. not to mention that I dropped in an the drift ended up blocking on of my units basically out of the game till turn 5/6 and failed a very crucial psykic test(all this was on turn one). Besides this I've played 4 or 5 games with all an all pod list. All were major victories or massacres besides a tie against a duel lash DP list. I wiped a Mech IG list and only lost an HQ cause he took a wound from perils of the warp and failed a save against some guard which if he didn't fail the save he would have wiped. I don't use dreads or speeders cause they are fire magnets that die super easy and take up elite slots(dreads only here) Cheers, Ramo Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/185653-how-are-those-drop-pods-armies-working-for-you/#findComment-2198227 Share on other sites
Quillen
Same. I have had pods in the last 4 games and they smoked what ever they came near, except in one game. They got pretty stomped and died by turn 3. Still it won the game cause he moved things away from an objective and my freind put 3 pods on an ojective and took it. Against tanks just do double meltas. They will die fast.
