Lazarus666
Hello brethrens! Some of you may have seen the nurgle stuff i have done but now i am going to try some evil guys, Imperial fist or what some calls them.. banana beakies. The hardest thing to decide is what type of yellow i should use, the pic bellow is the most recent try. http://i592.photobucket.com/albums/tt5/Inquizarus/20091122626.jpg What do you guys think of it? Atleast i think that it is half-decent but i see a problem to incorperate (sp?) my vision of battledamage and the like on this yellow as it is kinda bright, any thoughts? Mal
Its a nice yellow for a base, it seems a little bright for my preference, but its a nice yellow. The key to an IF force is getting the yellow the same for the whole army. Fire Lord Captain
Hmmm how about reversing the base colour with the highlight? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/185666-imperial-fist/#findComment-2195724 Share on other sites
Mal
Well with a dark cloak (dark red is the norm for IF) the yellow will contrast better, but there is too much white on the mini atm which makes telling the overall tone of the yellow quite difficult. Bay
Try Iyanden darksun foundation paint for the basecoat. I've used it when painting my SW should pad's. Iyanden --> Golden Yellow --> Highlight with badmoon. BTW nice model. Old school command squad Captain. Lazarus666
Ok so i have no real update on any newly painted stuff, but i will show what i have to work with to create my imperial fist force, all of it is more or less bought second-hand so i need to strip most of the stuff. http://i592.photobucket.com/albums/tt5/Inquizarus/20091127639.jpg The only marine unit that i have worked on is to the far left, my WIP sternguards. http://i592.photobucket.com/albums/tt5/Inquizarus/20091127641.jpg These are an attempt at a darker fist with alot of battledamage and maybe some gore.. but i have gotten critic that it isnt really yellow and that it is TO dark and such. And i have a little problem, i work from a white spray primer and do the black rims by freehand since the painting is much faster, but i really HATE to paint the inside of the shoulderpad rim.. if you know what i mean? Do anyone have a tip or trick to do it easyier? I am having a really though time to decide what yellow to use.. i even had times when i was going to scrap the whole project becouse of it. logemaru
Those Sternguard look really good! The battle damage is very cool. You're right in saying maybe it isn't a 'real' yellow, but I like it a bit better than the sarge in your first post. Maybe you could find something in between the two... Mal
The inner rims.... a real %$ to paint.... My technique is to paint the outer rim but press the brush flat until the bristles just cover that inner rim also, then gently drag the brush... try for long strokes for a smoother fninish.
