Inquisitor Kravin
Does anyone know of any fluff either way on the question of whether the Axe Morkai is the weapon of the Great Wolf just as the Sword of Secrets is weapon of the Supreme Grand Master of the Dark Angels or the Gauntlets of Ultramar are the weapon of the Ultramarines Chapter Master or whether each Great Wolf uses his personal weapons and the current Great Wolf uses the Axe Morkai because that was a relic of his particular Great Company. I ask because I quite like the Great Company symbol of Logan Grimnar before he became Great Wolf and I was wondering if a pre-Great Wolf version of Logan should have the Axe Morkai or a different weapon. nurglespuss
Grimnar won the axe of a chaos champion, it was reforged into the Axe Morkai by the companies iron priests. Vlk
It is not impossible, however, for the Space Wolves to use the famous weapons of their predecessors. For example, Ragnar's Frostblade used to belong to a Wolfblade before he got it. So you could make a POST-Grimnar version of the Great Wolf with Axe Morkai I guess. Inquisitor Kravin
Thanks. I don't have the codex to hand and from what I remember in the description of the weapon itself it simply says that it was reforged into its current form and is imbued with the power of the warp. I wasn't sure if it was specified anywhere when/where this occurred or if Logan Grimnar was the one who was responsible for this or whether he just inherited it. Given that the Axe Morkai is arguably a tainted weapon and I'm pretty sure that the Gauntlets of Macragge are recovered chaos or xenos artefacts I can't help but feel a little sorry for the Relictors for getting singled out! Hfran Morkai
Given that the Axe Morkai is arguably a tainted weapon and I'm pretty sure that the Gauntlets of Macragge are recovered chaos or xenos artefacts I can't help but feel a little sorry for the Relictors for getting singled out! I think its because they go out of their way to fetch all those Chaos relics, which seems certainly more odd than just one or two. Not that the Inquisition itself isn't trying to watch the Wolves, just we don't tend to like them in our sector of space.
