Went to a tournament last weekend for the first time with the new Wolves. 4 games at 1750 over 2 days with 44 players. I placed a lowly 28 I'm afraid to say, not upholding the Wolves honour!

Quick breakdown;

Game 1 Seize Ground Chaos Marines

Lash Prince

Abaddon

2 units Plague Marines

Noise Marines

Obliterators

Real beating to begin with. Just lash evrything into assault with Abaddon. Totally wiped me out.

Game 2 Anniliation Tau

2 Hammerheads

Several Fire Warriors and Devilfish

1 unit Crisis Suits

Good game pretty even for the first few turns until I could get into range then I started to roll him over. Win to me.

Game 3 Capture Control Chaos Marines

Lash Prince

2 units Plagues Marines in Land Raiders

Noise Marines

1 Obliterator

Good game again, quite bloody. Managed to get onto his objective while he assaulted mine last turns to contest. Win to me.

Game 4 Seize Ground Chaos Marines

Lash Prince

Warp Time Prince

2 units Plague Marines

Berzerkers

Land Raider

2 units Obliterators

Bit of a slow game with a stand off, me not wanting to advance into his guns and Princes and him just stitting in cover. He managed to run onto an bjective last turn while I lost a combat which would have enabled me to contest it so I lost.

All in all too many Lash Princes and Obliterators! Good test out of the Codex as I haven't had much play test with it yet.

Well done bobs :)

So Lash prince is still de rigour

Long Fangs with Plasma Cannons/Las Cannons and Pods with Grey hunters + Plasma Guns FTW mate rather than the Crusader but I understand it's an all comers list rather than fight the Chaos Marine list ;)

Never understand Lash myself - boring to play with and against - Warptime however is IMO a very good power :P

My list was basicly

Wolf Lord

Wolf Priest

Scouts

Lascannon dread

5 Wolf Guard Terminators

13 Claws

10 Hunters Rhino

10 Hunters

Crusader

The main problem was I wanted to use Terminators but had no plan for them. Claws in the Raider and Guard on foot they didn't get to do much. When they did see combat it was Abaddon or Warp Time and Berzerkers. They did manage to bash one Prince though.

wolf priest? why not the rune priest/inq psychic hood combo , good for tournaments kills lists that are based around their psychic powers.

why BC just because your runing a wolf priest and a LR. a unit of GK is cheaper and even with a wolf priest , would get more kills.

But surely, the point was he was trying out the spacw wolves codex... and not uncharacterful allies?....

Well done on the outcome! I've luckily not faced a 'lash-prince' yet, and in fact haven't got to use my death guard since the new chaos codex came out!

From what you were up against, apart from the lashiness, what was hardest to contend with? Obliterators seem quite common place, but I've never encountered/used one in a friendly game.

Another point, not including your list or the Tau players list, it certainly confirms for me that competetive/tournament style events are not for me!

and not uncharacterful allies?....

with counts as you call the inq a belisarius navigator or thrall navy officer and all is well and fluffy.

Even without the ally, a Rune Priest for the opportunity to cancel those enemy Psychic Powers would have done you a lot of good. Plus, we've got some pretty good Psychic Powers of our own (Living Lightning, et al) to use. Probably would have been more helpful in the end than using the Wolf Priest's Prefered Enemy Oath.

Because they're not Space Wolves so no way near as awesome. The BC aren't the problem, they always do well for me butchering whatever they touch then holding the objective.

Exaclty, I still haven't used the book nearly enough.

Most tournaments are pretty cool. This one was alright Lash spam and all.

@ V I agree about the RP. He is definitly next on the list to try out. Although I'm not sure what to do with him either. Maybe sit him with my GH fire support? But that means the Rune weapons null range may be compromised.

Guess that's what trying stuff is all about!

Nice one chaps
