Emperor Titan Questions

Hi guys over the past few months I have been planning my Titan battlegroup project which will start in about 2 weeks.

So far the plan is 4 warhounds, 1 warlord, and maybe 1 reaver all scratchbuild.

anyways, i saw the datasheet for the Emperor Titan and I have to say i REALLY like the idea. but here is the big question:

1. Do people even like this titan (would you even want to play against it)?

2. Would i have to build the cathedral? I really dont care for it and i figure i could just say it was built pre-heresy during the time of imperial truth for the sake of fluff.

Is this a plausible excuse for a lack in what seems to be the big difference from a warlord(in terms of the actual look)?

1. Personally, I don't like it. I think it doesn't match the capabilities of an Emperor i the fluff, and is ALSO too cheap in points for the amount of destroyer shots and killing power it has. But it's only really important if YOU and your opponents are ok with it ;)

2. Up to you. IIRC, every Imperator is pretty individual in looks anyway, and as you say, certainly wouldn't have had cathedrals pre-heresy. I also don't like the mobile cathedral look, but it's hard making it look right without then, be warned. Tried it for ages on my epic one, and gave up in the end!

Happe,

about 6 months ago a freind wanted to build one..so i helped put together plans on a substructure that would actaly hold it..i mean it IS at minimum 39 inchs to the bottom of the cathral. so i want to let you know our aprouch to it...

1. very few people will "like" going up against it..( that said..they WILL ignor everything else ..so your side will love you)

2. there IS a data sheet for it...

3. if you put the work into building one that isnt a cardboard box with a picture of one drawn on it... it desevers to be THAT cheap!

just my two cents

That's a pretty fair point to be honest!

Uhhhhh,....OK,...I'll grant you that. Its a hard point to argue and to do so would only make you look like a "table top sissy".

At 4000pts, the datafax is actually a bit under powered (and full of typos), yet the concept is frankly awesome. If you can build one and do a good job of it, I say go for it. As to the carapace "castle", I'm not planning on put one on mine, which will be based more on a modern battleship than a gothic church.

I'm not huge fan of the datasheet, either, as it shows a Vengeance Cannon mounted on the carapace yet has not option to take a Vengeance Cannon as a carapace weapon. Also, there are the 52 infantry models in each leg yet only 3 models in each leg can fire a weapon, and only one weapon each to the front, to the right, and the rear of each leg. And then there is the Doomstrike Missile Launcher which uses the Apocalypse Barrage Marker to determine the fall of 5 of its 10 shots.

Yet, in the end, 4000pts of cheap for 26 SD shots per round on a 12 SP model, and that's not bad at all.

As to no citadels on my Emperors, I'm planning on six battleship style main turrets surrounding a raised superstructure.

I feel like I might be the only one here who likes that damn cathedral :P

My Emperor Titan (which is currently under construction) is going to have an interesting twist: I'm gonna mount an oversized Exorcist launcher w/ a Techpriest "playing" it. I think the cathedral can really work towards making the Emperor a fun piece if you center it around a fun, over-the-top piece of Gothic architecture.

After all, you want this thing to just reek baroque/gothic/all-around-extreme religious fanaticism!

Titans before the heresy probably did not have the cathedral on top but personally i love that feature. Also i feel that the titan data sheet is under priced but how ever i also feel it should be made much more powerful but also costing a hell of a lot more.
Most titans were built during the heresy...they are that old. The Imperator Titan has the cathedral, but the Warmonger is more of a stand off and shoot Emperor Titan...it has two defence Laser platforms, and a landing pad for a support aircraft to land...so go the warmonger route and you won't need cathedrals. Anywho...have fun building a 6 foot tall titan
I'm not sure if it is officially an emperor titan, but BulldogUK has a great 'chaplain' titan, that seems to fit the look. He has some other great examples of home-built titans that are some of the best I've seen. He's got his own web-site with them on - here .
