chwbcc
I love the Nimba stuff. they are the guys that made the two marine costumes from the earlier post. They look great, I don't expect my stuff to look that good but but I am going to try my best! I have drawn up a few Space Marine plans as a rough guide during this process, sorry they are a 1000px wide, I wanted you all to be able to see it good. I have addressed the shoulder issue by using an "Under shoulder" piece that will reduce the center volume of the large shoulder piece and allow me to attach the piece better to my chest piece and my shoulder. I am still working out the details for flexibility but that is the least of my worries. I'm more afraid of the shoes shells. They have to be flexible and yet durable and they are the common problem with character costumes. The are usually bulky and difficult to move in. So any suggestions would be greatly helpful. And Raven Guard sounds cool... I'm really far from deciding because I have a lot of work ahead of me yet. But I will add this to my top ten... Check out the Plans http://spacemarine.witmanphotography.com/Space-Marine_Plans_pg1.jpg http://spacemarine.witmanphotography.com/Space-Marine_Plans_pg2.jpg http://spacemarine.witmanphotography.com/Space-Marine_Plans_pg3.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/185783-space-marine-~-corvus-armor-aka-beakie-armor/page/2/#findComment-2198572 Share on other sites
chwbcc
How about a little Raven Guard Insignia modification? What ever logo I settle on I am going to go to either an auto painter or a professional airbrush artist. Mr. Bleak
Very cool suit. I can't wait to see it finished. Could you explain to me in simple terms what exactly Pepakura is? I've seen in mentioned on this site in just about every thread that has to do with costumes, and I've begun to wonder what it is. chwbcc
Very cool suit. I can't wait to see it finished. Could you explain to me in simple terms what exactly Pepakura is? I've seen in mentioned on this site in just about every thread that has to do with costumes, and I've begun to wonder what it is. Pepakura ~ Below is the link to the program it's free to use and cheap to upgrade. The only difference between the free and the paid version is the ability to save files. This is important because you will need to test build piece at times and save them at different sizes. I think it's $38 at most... Well work it once you see the power of it. http://www.tamasoft.co.jp/pepakura-en/ So here's the process: You build a 3d file in Maya or 3d Studio Max or Blender (Free) Import it into Pepakura Click the unfold button and tada it cuts the pieces and arranges them on flat surfaces. Print the pieces cut them out glue together and you have a paper model!!! To make this wearable there are a few more steps like figuring out scale and then unfolding the pieces so they are smooth, and fiber glassing and bondo... There is a whole site dedicated to this sort of stuff called the www.405th.com (I've been reluctant to post this because I didn't want my thread to be deleted for advertising an outside community.) I'm on this site and that site constantly!!! The community is mostly about Halo armor but just recently there have been a few 40k people who are trying to get this to take off. There is a guy that already has all the body pieces Pep'd and it looks cool and I am trying to help with putting his together. Check it out, but I am going to post in both places as I continue because I've been lurking here for a long time and enjoy 40k more than halo anyway. Maybe this will take off here and there could be a complete Cos-play section. (If there isn't one already) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/185783-space-marine-~-corvus-armor-aka-beakie-armor/page/2/#findComment-2198803 Share on other sites

Avarris
Awesome looking project, I think that you should go for what ever army that you like. Although I am so tempted to do something like this myself, I wouldnt, mainly cause in my honest opinion most people aren't bulky enough to make the armour look right. I agree this is a specific case... However you should be able to your scale really easily and instead of working on Height you could work from Width the scale might be off but at least you have built something not many people have. chwbcc
O.k. making progress on the helm, I've started the chest but it's giving me some trouble. I went with Ultramarine blue for this helm but that doens't mean anything, I just want to ge a nice base coat on it because I didn't want to stare at black primer any longer! The gloss paint really makes this look good. The eyes and the light/sensor are not complete and I think I am going to leave them incomplete until after I make the molds and pull a few castings. That way if I mess one up I can pull another one! Can you see how much faith I have in myself? I've put alot of work into this helm and I'd hate to ruing it now. I think I have 25 hour in the project so far and that's not counting the helm I've already ruined! Yeah that's a whole other thread all together! So tell me what you think, here are some pics of what I've done today: http://spacemarine.witmanphotography.com/IMG_1209_500px.jpg http://spacemarine.witmanphotography.com/IMG_1210_500px.jpg http://spacemarine.witmanphotography.com/IMG_1211_500px.jpg http://spacemarine.witmanphotography.com/IMG_1212_500px.jpg http://spacemarine.witmanphotography.com/IMG_1213_500px.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/185783-space-marine-~-corvus-armor-aka-beakie-armor/page/2/#findComment-2199701 Share on other sites

Im not saying that at all! Its more that you would need the muscles of arnie in his prime to make suit to the same proportions if you scaled a marine up to life size. On another note, are you going to be making any weapons to go with this? The Helmet looks really good so far, tad too shiney for my liking but Im guessing its not finished paint wise. Do you think I could get the Gonvenator to try this on? LOL The shininess is really helps see the dips in detail, I might actually do a bit more sanding but I'm not sure. This is really only a buck for creating a mold, then I am going to pull several castings so I can make an Army of Beakie Marines and take over the world!!!! Seriously, though I hope to have about 5 pulled within a month. I still have some arrangements to make and some learning to do but this is looking really cool! chwbcc
Ok I have been making progress, I should have some of the font finished today... For those of you following this thread, I am trying to buy a house right now so I am saving my money for all that stupid stuff... But I will keep plugging away at the Pep files. My new house is going to have a really nice workshop, I hope everything works out. larundel
WOW...this is going to look amazing. I cant wait to see it finished, will be watching. Are you going to make a bolter to go with the suit or chainsword? chwbcc
Here it is the final chest Pep... There are alot of problems with it but it looks pretty good for the first one pep'd. I will pass my feedback to the designer so he can work out the issues. But on a whole it is a really nice piece. I had to trim the bottom pieces so I could get into it but that only required removing an inch and a half from the bottom ring area and I was able to slide right in to it. The piece is going to need some shoulder supports and some internal supports while I glass the piece but after a nice think coast of resin this will be nice and solid. In the the pics below you will see the side are bulging out because of the lack of supports and the way it sit on the body. The piece isn't actually that wide when it is sitting on the floor. The top neck area also doesn't line up because of the way it is sitting on the body, so I will have to make sure this doesn't warp when I fiberglass the piece. I will probably brace the neck area and glass that first then more on to the shoulders, so this helps keep the proportions. Then I will glass the bottom ring area to hold the bottom in place then glass the rest of the piece... Tell me what you guys think? http://spacemarine.witmanphotography.com/IMG_1330_500px.jpg http://spacemarine.witmanphotography.com/IMG_1331_500px.jpg http://spacemarine.witmanphotography.com/IMG_1333_500px.jpg http://spacemarine.witmanphotography.com/IMG_1334_500px.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/185783-space-marine-~-corvus-armor-aka-beakie-armor/page/2/#findComment-2215501 Share on other sites
chwbcc
My shoulder is falling apart but check out the photos below... At first I was afraid to actually lower my arms for fear of the pep falling apart! :lol I think I may have to do some trimming as well and I think I am going to do it before I glass but I really don't know, I have to really think about what I need to trim and what I would like to keep. I didn't like the way it was siting on the shoulders so I added in some pads my wife wife uses for Mrs. Potts and it pushed everything just about perfect. I also added in a pad in the head as well to lift the helm off the shoulders and that really brings the suit to life. It makes the helm look like a bobble head but I can reduce the shoulder padding and the head padding to make it sit properly. I think the shoulder is a little large in depth but not height. I think I am going to modify the piece by removing the edging and glass that then add in a new border that is not as pronounced. You will also see the pep warping because of the position I have wot stand in to hold the shoulder but with the right angle in the neck area this looks pretty good in proportion. The first two pics are with out the helmet padding and the last three have the padding. Here's some more pics: http://spacemarine.witmanphotography.com/IMG_1336_500px.jpg http://spacemarine.witmanphotography.com/IMG_1338_500px.jpg http://spacemarine.witmanphotography.com/IMG_1340_500px.jpg http://spacemarine.witmanphotography.com/IMG_1342_500px.jpg http://spacemarine.witmanphotography.com/IMG_1343_500px.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/185783-space-marine-~-corvus-armor-aka-beakie-armor/page/2/#findComment-2215596 Share on other sites
