Space Wolf-ish music to paint to

As usual, a friend has asked me to paint another model for him, this time it's a Wolflord. Typically, I listen to a wide range of music, but I'm curious as to what you members of the pack listen to while you're painting your Space Wolves. Right now, I've managed to find some decent music from TURISAS (example: Holmgard and Beyond), but I'm eager to find more music for my (rather large) collection. Naturally, let's not break any rules here with the shady side of obtaining music, as I try to get music though 'legit' channels first. Just suggestions as far as groups and songs would do, methinks.

Ah, there was a thread like this when I joined.

Turisas of course

Tyr

Leafy green and mutton (youtube)

Finntroll

Alestorm

Viking Skull

ManoWar

Blind Guardian

Sonata Arctica

Ragnorok

Moonsorrow

Korpiklaani

Jormundgard

Iced Earth

Crimfall

Ensiferum

Dimmu Borgir

Dragonforce

Battlelore

Amon Amarth

Right that's my playlist exhausted. Some are more Norse-y than others, but they all do the trick.

might get lynched for this but its what i listen to when i want to concentrate on my painting;

Pink Floyd

otherwise its Rise against, billy talent, gallows, system of a down, the clash, fall of troy... anything really.

but i find Floyd is nice as you can hear it but you don't have to focus on it so i can still concentrate fully on my painting

Lynched? Of course not!!! Pink Floyd is the best, ever!!!!

Led Zeppelin is good too. Any metal band is good for painting wolves, apart form Pink Floy, obviously ;)

See, I'm the exact opposite. I can't listen to loud, hard music when I'm painting. I have to listen to something chilled out. And ideally it'll be something that I associate with the theme of the thing I'm painting.

So for my Ultramarines, I'd go for songs with Gregorian chanting in them (volume quite low of course). For the Wolves (if I were to collect them) I'd probably go for the snowy winters of Fenris, and pick something like Sigur Ros.

PS: Bought the first Ragnar omnibus trilogy yesterday and have finished the first book. Damned good read. William King really seems to understand the Space Wolves in a way that McNeil doesn't with the Ultramarines. Looking forward to getting to grips with the second book now.

Oddly enough, as long as the theme of the music fits what I'm painting, it really doesn't matter the tune or the volume with me: It all helps in the long run!

Interesting to see so many Finnish bands mentioned. Guess we have nailed down the harsh yet honourable northmen-attitude. ;)

My recommendation: Dawn of War II Soundtrack.

Edit: 400th post! [Proceeds to gulp a whole barrel of the finest Fenrisian ale]

I listen to metal (big surprise)

Thes bands btw:

Kamelot

Hammerfall

Sabaton

Firewind

Blindguardian

Dragonforce

Might give Manowar a try.

Oh yeah i also like to listen to Motorhead and Katra although those 2 bands aren't metal.

When I panit I mostly listen to either Matisyahu, kind of reagge-rock, or something soft lite Joshua Radin, Taylor Swift or Regina Spector. Not what the usual "wiking-SW-stereotype-thingy" usually goes with :D But I seem to have left those days behind. No more heavy metal for me. Especially not when I paint.

Cheers. !

haven't painted anything yet, but the bands i would listen to would be; e nomine, hollywood undead and the offspring. the songs from each would be

e nomine; vater unser, mitternacht, and pontius pilotus.

hollywood undead; young, and city.

the offspring; your gonna go far kid, and the kids aren't alright.

my favorite bands and some great music to listen to.

Alestorm? For real? That's awesome.

Mine is paltry compared to this. I listen to Manowar, Turisas, Amon Amarth and "Lost Vikings" by Dethklok (Aka the Metalocalypse show)

Believe it or not but Guns-n-Roses: Use your Illusions I & II. Especially "You could be mine" Have the whole image of the Terminator future scenes going through my mind while painting and thinking of the whole Apoc future thing, gets the blood flowing.
