Niiai
Hi, I have seen Afro Samuray and I realy like the headbans or oath papers that float around there. They are higly egsagerated, but would it be a way to incorpoerate long strips of oath papers into a SW army? It is not realy in theme, I would have to include some demon hunters or something to incorporate it. What do you think? Growler67
Would be fine with me as it's your Army. For modeling it, I would consider a spire or similar mounted to the top center of the backpack. Any number of "oaths" can be displayed there. Perhaps as an option consider a streamer like "oath banner"wrapped around the hand as it grips a Bolter/Chainsword or whatever - in the context of the Spartan credo "with it or on it". Streamers would be relatively easy to model with GS and can be placed nearly anywhere much like Purity Seals. As another option, you can use Purity Seals and just paint them as "oath pledges", however you decide to distinguishe them from actual Purity Seals. Have Fun. Niiai
Yeah but it is not very SW ish...oh well, perhaps the rune priest will get one. I was thinking of making it out of green stuff in that case. I was thinking of wrapping it along arms and having it float of into the night but it is out of the theme. Can you think about something more in theme but that can be wrapped around a model or something? Growler67
Japanese Snipers during WWII used to climb tree then tie their legs into position. This would help stabilize their bodies into a more solid shooting frame. It was also meant as an "oath pledge" of sorts as it did not allow for an easy egress or escape should they be discovered, and in so doing they would not dishonor themselve with such a cowardly act - they would stand their ground until the death. Maybe I didn't describe it well enough. A streamer wrapped around ones hand as they grip their weapon. Binding their hand to that weapon so as to not let it go from their hand during battle. The wrap could have a long streamer flapping in the breeze with said oath scribbled on it. Having such would not look funny, IMO, nor out of place. I don't know what you mean "not SW-ish" as anything that isn't covered in fur or runes would fall into such a broad catagorization. An oath of honor written by the hand of the taker and then wrapping said oath around ones hand binding it to the weapon to be used falls very much into my vision of a Space Wolf. Maybe we have different visions. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/185850-modeling-oaths/#findComment-2198086 Share on other sites
Niiai
When I say Oath Paper I refer to the oaths space marines takes, and then they glue a written copy of that oath onto their armour or weapon or what not. None of my spacewolf models come equiped with this. In samurai Black (and the Siderdials prayer scroll in the Exalted RPG) they have written oaths hanging everywhere. One in particular that I cnat find a picture of uses oath letters as "clothes". I was thinking of doing this outside of a SW armour, but then i remebered that they do not do it. So how do I solve the dilemma or make it more in theme. I can't find any good pictures of it. When I think about it, I probably only find it facinating because then I dont have to work on my home examn. :-/ Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/185850-modeling-oaths/#findComment-2198104 Share on other sites
MaveriK
When the sun nears Fenris, bloody wars are waged amongst the barbaric tribes of Fenris. It was Ulrik the Slayer who stood watch over the battle field, seeking out those who are worthy to be taken to the Fang. A mighty unknown warrior stood to defend his land from neighboring invaders, he was exhausted to the point that he could no longer carry his axe. He vowed to defend his tribe, his kin and his land and in doing so bound his hands to his weapons, the "oath banner" wrapped around the hand to hold his grip. He fought the invaders until there were no more, his weapons still wrapped around his hands, the unknown warrior was the last man standing, as the blood of Fenris drained from his body. He took his last breath and fell to his knees. He defended his land and kept his oath, he died a warriors death... only to be reborn as a son of Russ. Niiai
Hmmm....perhaps I could do it... I will see. But holy cow, every singel space wolf must feel like he died already and got a sexond chance to fight for the gods. Paint it accordingly and so be it. I like the streamer thing personally, but whatever fits your vision. @ Maverick, thank you for the reference, I was not aware of it. MaveriK
@ Maverick, thank you for the reference, I was not aware of it. not an actual fluff I'm afraid, I just winged it. I thought I'd try to help put it in Space Wolf perspective with a story. But who's to say it never happened or will? ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/185850-modeling-oaths/#findComment-2198162 Share on other sites
