Niiai
That ludacris Valerian. It is about honour. I don't think all SW who are the last of a pack seek to die, but some do, and they might wnat to redeem themself after being shamed, and as a SW player you know that count's for a lott. If he shoved up naked he would just be stupid. Also, I was thinking of fielding a LW just vanila for 20. I mean, come on, for 20 points he is a pain in the ass. He will die fast but if he can take out some units he would own. Night Runner
To be completly fair, the whjole 'Lone Wolf' doesn't fit fluff wise.... at all... The whole damned chapter is ONE pack... if there is only 1 survivor from a squad and his dishonour isn't sufficent for death or exile then he'd join another unit.... No Loyalist marine chapter is going to throw a marine away if they can avoid it, espically one with rank sufficent to allow them access to the best wargear avaliable.... Then you take into acount the rules the lone wolf gets.... hes too much for what he costs.... and taking one is a win-win situtation for the wolf player. I think you need to lighten up and just enjoy the fluff for what it is, pure unadulterated fiction. If you're going to surgically disect it in a vain quest to find logical answers that always make sense, then I suggest you switch to historical wargaming. I play it and it is just as fun. Sarcasm is not very well delivered through text. Might I suggest we get back to the gaming aspect that this thread was intended for and leave the fluff somewhere else? Sarcasm is not very well delivered through text. Perhaps not always, however I have read plenty of books with sarcasm throughout, which is easily picked up by any (or perhaps just most) casual readers. Considering I explained exactly what my point was in the second paragraph, one would have to be either reading quite carelessly, or be a real knucklehead not to understand what I was saying. No Loyalist marine chapter is going to throw a marine away if they can avoid it, espically one with rank sufficent to allow them access to the best wargear avaliable.... I think you are wrong, that is not the way a Space Wolf Marine live. He begins to fight with his pack in the selection time, then again with them in their Blood Claws Pack, then he normally joins them in their Grey Hunters Pack, or leaves the pack to follow the lonely explorer path. The only reason why he would leave his own pack is joining Wolf Guard, joining Long Fangs or dying. The SW Fluff states that an old and only Space Wolf survivor from his pack normally becomes sargent, or training sargent. The Lone Wolf is another new variant very coherent with all this fluff. He is not dishonoured, he is not thrown away, you misread it here, I think. He is an honoured and ancient warrior, but he feels himself alone without those who were his brothers for centuries. He does not want to join a pack of screaming nerds, or waste time teaching anyone. He wants to spend his last moments fighting alone against our enemies, to take personal revenge for his dead brothers. Think of the last and oldest wolf of a pack, hunting alone in the mountains. Simply and wolfy as that. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/185862-those-who-travel-the-lone-path/page/2/#findComment-2199999 Share on other sites
Plastenarius
Just out of random curiosity, who all has tried out the Lone Wolf option in the new codex? Have any success stories? I took one of these against a C:SM Dread army and took out 2 of his drop pod dreads and the pods to go with them. Although it was fun, it just happened to work out that way - it was too many points to justify having in the list. fjgarces
Mine (85p TDA/TH/SS) inmobilised a full boyz + boss ork battlewagon, after that charged against a deff dread and blocked it for 3 turns (the rest of the game).
