Blood Claw Heros

I've seen a lot of bad things written about Blood Claws both her and elsewhere and with the higher points cost in the new dex I've not bothered with blood claws until this week. i had a few points left against an Eldar army so I grabed 8 put them in a rhino with a wg pack leader. And boy was I suprised. They charged forward and claimed an objective. They then took out a squad of 10 guardians without loss and in the third turn survived an assault by 10 harliquins killing 4 and losing 4. In their next turn they ripped the quins apart without loss. In the final turn the eldar player tried to drive them away from the objective by tank shocking them with a wave serpent. One tried death or glory and wrecked the serpent thus keeping them on the objective and wining me the game.

 

I'll definately consider taking them again.

 

Has anyone else had any spectacular successes with Blood Claws?

hmmm i had a squad of 10 stock blood claws charge a squad of 10 eldar guardians and 5 rangers who were sat on the objective, they took 0 casualties, they then went on to charge 8 dire avengers (whilst my other blood claw unit snuck in to claim the objective) of which they only took 3 casualties and utterly wiped the avengers out. and then i thought i would charge them at my mates avatar and i took 2 wounds off the feeble eldar demigod they then took too many losses and ran away to fight another day.

 

and il add aswell that ive also got a land raider redeemer that has seen 7 battles and not died once

I love my bloodclaws. They put out an insane amount of attacks. Against meq you're still hitting on 4's even with the lower weapon skill. My problem, as usual, has been my crappy dice rolling for armor saves and wounds with them.

A guy here had 10 Blood Claws with Ragnar Blackmane and his two loyal wolves charge a full 20 strong Black Templar Crusader squad and reduce it to four models in a single round of combat. :lol:

I consider this as a waste of Ragnars abilities but thats just me.

15 on foot led by a wolf priest (reroll to hit!) and a wolfguard with a combi melta, termie armour and a chainfist.

Watch it tear through almost anything. And who's gonna be mad enough to charge THAT?

I had a pack of 15 w/ a WP. They got shot to hell after their LRC was blown up. Only the guy with powerfist survived. He then killed a chaos dread and a rhino, and walked onto an objective to claim. Good guy =D

I've recently had a game where a pack of 15 blood claws with a wolf priest has been charged by 3 seperate squads of 32 spinegaunts. they cut them to ribbons before charging a screamer-killer fex, killed it and marched to an objective. B)

They only lost 5 men. ;)

In my game yesterday I had a 15 Blood Claw pack with WP get tied up with a C'tan for 4 rounds before finally pulling it down (4 S vs. 8T meant only 1 PF attack a round :P ), got reduced to near nothingness in the destructive blast, and then died taking Immortal fire that would've otherwise taken down my pack which grabbed the game winning objective. Not exactly a normal use of them, but it did win me the game.

I have had a unit of BC with WGPL just wipe out some BT termies and chaplain. I mean the BT player's face just kinda fell when I charged and started counting out dice.
