Hiya guys, first off a round of ales on me!

My brothers and I are starting a mini campaign, with me playing my beloved great company of course. I'll get up battle reports as the battles take place. Firstly, do you have any preference between story format reports or just straight up reports? I'd like to do the former but I know some people find that annoying. Secondly, take a peek at my initial army list and please give some critique as tourney rules say I can't change mid tournament. Thanks in advance and a keg of ale to the first one who responds!

List:

Wolf Lord Oskar Banewolf w/runic armor, jumppack, storm shield, wolfclaw, saga of the warrior born 230pts

Scout pack Vafnir (5) w/ meltagun, 2x plasma pistols 115pts

Grey Hunter pack Kvasir (10) w/ 2x plasma gun, Mark of Wulfen 175pts

Grey Hunter pack Sven (10) w/ 2x plasma gun, Mark of Wulfen 175pts

Skyclaw pack Jolnar (10) w/ flamer, Mark of Wulfen, powerweapon. 215pts

Landspeeder w/ typhoon missile launcher 90pts

Total: 1000pts

Note: I forgot to mention the other armies played in this mini tourney are orks, tau, imperial guard, necrons, and maybe chaos marines if we can get my buddy to join in.

I have to say I enjoy the plain report better. A little fluff before and after maybe, but the battle itself is better without story. I like Redrivertears batreps over on warseer. Thats the way to do it

And by the way: You wolf lord is named after me, right? 'Cause my name is Oskar, and I'm from Sweden so more or less a wiking ;)

Sorry its taken me so long to get the 1st report up, I had computer problems. The machine spirit hates me <_< .

@ jester: sorry mate, no video camera. Even if I had one I wouldn't know what to do with it.

@ Natanael: actually the wolf lord is named after my friend's cat. Evilest feline alive.

Ok, first bat rep won't be an actual story, as the battle was quite complicated and in story form the written version is longer than I am tall.

Oskar Banewolf gazed out from the bridge of his strike cruiser at the verdant moon below. His depleted great company ranged across its surface, searching for both the xeno tech that made this place liveable, unlike the iceball it circle, and the renegades they had been sent to hunt down. A company of the White Consuls had gone renegade, attacking an imperial shrineworld before fleeing here. Oskar relished the chance to return to this system, as it was here nearly two years ago his lord, Harald Halfhand, had fallen with all of his wolf guard and the greater strength of his company. Only Oskar and eleven others had "escaped" by virtue of being exfiltrated due to wounds before the green tide drowned the company. He remembered that day, his last fight against the ork warboss and its guard, before the long fangs drove the horde off again and he was carried of the field. The next assault had been too much and overwhelmed his brothers. Oskar's nostalgia was interrupted by a voice on the vox.

"Lord, Kvasir here, hostiles spotted. Its the renegades."

"Engage at will, reinforcements are in bound. Purge the Unclean."

"By Russ we will reap a toll to make the dark gods flinch."

Oskar rushed down the corridors of his ship, pausing only to yell into the mead hall.

"Jolnar, grab your pack and meet me in the launch bay on the double. Vaf, your in charge 'till I get back"

Vafthrudnir the Runecaster acknowledged the order with a wave of his ale horn and said "Oskar, it'll be Sven who needs your help, not Kvasir."

Having become used to the runepriest's strange warnings in the six months he'd been with the company, Oskar only nodded and chivied along the skyclaws.

"Come on lads, we've traitors to kill!"

Deployment: Dawn of War

Mission: 4 objectives

Enemy: Space Marines

Hostile army list:

Captain w/ powersword

Librarian w/ smite and gate

Terminator squad w/ 1 chainfist

Dreadnought w/ TLLC, ML

Tactical squad, flamer and ML, powersword

Tactical squad, flamer and ML,

Whirlwind

Board was 4x4 feet, set up in 9 quadrants.

North west: nothing

North center: little hill, weapons cache objective

North east: big hill, supply drop objective

West: nothing

center: 4 big pillars

east: small wood

South west: nothing, supply drop objective

South center: nothing

south east: rubble, fuel silo objective

The other guy got to go first, picked his side as the east. He deployed one combat squad (ML) on the big hill controlling one objective, another ML combat squad in the ruins claiming a second objective, and both the other combat squads plus the librarian in the bottom center quadrant. I deploy grey hunter squad Sven just north of the little hill (as close as possible to the ML combat squad with the great vantage point) and GH squad Kvasir 19" directly across the southern object from librarian and co.

Game turn 1

Space marine turn 1

Not a whole lot happened. Hill ML squad shot and killed two GH from squad Sven, other ML squad couldn't see far enough to shoot. Librarian and co. moved up and tried to rapid fire squad Kvasir but they were out of range (yay going second!).

Space Wolf turn 1

Both of my squads moved directly toward the nearest enemy and opened up! Squad Kvasir fired at the combat squad with the pw sarge and the librarian. Plasma killed three while super unlucky armor rolls killed the librarian after a barrage of bolter shots (wound distribution can do really weird things). Squad Sven, even though depleted, managed to get enough guys in rapid fire range to, after 4 successful to-hit rolls w/plasma guns, completely annihilate the northern combat squad.

Game turn 2

Space Marine

Dreadnought arrived. Oh joy. It advanaced just south of the northern hill, and shot and killed three wolves from squad Sven. Fething frak missile!

ML combat squad shot at squad Kvasir while the other two combat squads moved forward and flamed/bolt pistoled them, killing a total of three. They assaulted, i didnt get the counter charge, MoW guy still went nuts with seven attacks. Kills three, armor saves keep the rest of my guys from killing anything. they stay in combat.

Space Wolf

My scouts show up, right behind the dreadnought! Two plasma pistols and a meltagun make for a spectacular explosion which unfortunately killed one of my scouts. Squad Sven falls back toward the objective by the little hill while the combat w/ squad Kvasir goes nowhere.

Game turn 3

Space Marine

Whirlwind shows up behind the rubble while captain plus terminator squad deepstrike right next to squad Sven. The whirlwind and ML squad manage to kill two scouts while captain and co. shoot up squad Sven, leaving only two. After turn one nothing realy went right for Sven and the lads. The combat w/ squad Kvasir goes the other way with two dead wolves, but they don't break.

Space Wolves

Land speeder showed up and promptly put two krak missiles in the whirlwind, getting a wrecked result even with the save from the rubble. Combat with squad Kvasir went nowhere. As for the rest of the turn well...

Oskar studied the progressing battle in his HUD as the Thunderhawk streaked toward the warzone. It seemed that Kvasir's lads were the ones in need of help, as the dreadnought threatenig Sven blew up. Still, he had learned to trust the Runecaster's word, and directed the pilot to drop them off in the northern region of the warzone. No sooner had he spoke than the traitorous captain and his veteran troops appeared, gunning down most of Sven's pack. With a howl he lept form the thunderhawk, the skyclaws following eagerly. In his rage he didn't notice young Hengist, the most unstable of the pack, pulling at his gauntlets. The claw rattled off their bolt pistols and Beorn loosed his flamer, and battle was joined. Before the enemy could blink Oskar had ripped in with his wolf claw and carved open three of the enemy terminators. The traitor captain, Darius, struck out at the skyclaws. With a howl, Hengist yanked of his gloves and helm, ripping into Darius with claws and fangs and wounding him deeply. Oskar glance beyond the melee where the bodies of Sven's pack lay. He yanked his claw from the traitor sargeant's body and turned upon the captain. His revenge was not yet sated.

Anyway, massive butchery in return for only one dead skyclaw, leaving one terminator and the captain who is now down to one wound thanks to the crazy Hengist. I love Mark of the Wulfen!

The rest of the game revolved around the two combats. The ML combat squad killed my scouts, the land speeder reduced them to two, but they kept the fuel silo objective. The combat with squad Kvasir ended with mutual annihilation (stupid power weapon sarge wouldn’t die!) and my wolf lord butchered the captain and remaining terminator, but only 4 skyclaws were left. The remaining two men of squad Sven held the weapons cache objective. The game ended after turn 5 with a tie. One more turn and Oskar could have slain the two remaining marines and gotten a resounding victory! But oh well…

Star of the game gets shared by Oskar, for annihilating the terminators, and squad Kvasir, for tieing up and killing the librarian and half the enemy's troops. Truthfully, I only won due to two pieces of luck. Firstly, the librarian fell before he could loose smite on squad Kvasir, and the dreadnought was destroyed after only one turn. Next up, orks!

Oskar leaned over the body of the traitor Darius. The scum was still gasping at the air, but his wounds were fatal. The wolf lord grabbed Darius by his breast plate and growled into his face. "Why traitor? Why did you break your oaths, attack your fellows, and forsake the Emperor's Light?

The captain gasped, "We didn't you fool. All the shrineworlds in the galaxy mean nothing to the threat we destroyed. It was only a single tomb on that relic coated mudball we destroyed. There are more here, and we could have stopped them. If it weren't for you and that stupid greenskin..." The captain sagged against Oskar's grip and died. The wolf lord was pondering the renegade's last words when something caught his eye. He rolled the corpse over. On the vambrace was a bite mark, massive and recent. Oskar yanked out a metal shard, carved to resemble a massive tusk. He studied it, then compared it to a break on his pauldron, earned in battle nearly two years ago. It fit perfectly. He barked into the vox, "Brothers! The renegades have fought with the beast we seek for vengeance! Bring me one, alive. I would have words with him.
