Rules Question

I cannot remeber off hand what it says in rule book but...

If it says:

pass leadership test to get couter-attack, which means you count as charging, then it would be D3 attacks...

but if it says to get a bonus attack 'as if' charging then you would not (this would also come into play with furious charge.....)

The actual Counter attack rule states;

"If the test is successful all models in the unit get the +1 assault bonus to thier attacks, exactly as if they too had assaulted that turn." -BRB

Beserk charge also specifically denies the second bonus attack for counter attacks. Insane Bravado does not. <shrugs>

Fair do's seems pretty clear then. I haven't read that rule for ages...

with regards to ragnar, iirc there was a thread about this a few weeks back. no definitive answer was reached so the general consensus was the squad don't get the bonus back ragnar would. it seemed a fair compromise until it got faq'd becasue he may be quick enough to react but the chances are he wouldn't be able to warn his squad in time for them to react in such a furious manner.

re; saga of the hunter, if the squad has scout then yes. he doesn't grant a unit the rule if he joins it. so no outflanking wolf guard or bloodclaws...

the only reason i say they don't is because of how counter-attack is worded. in order to calm the bonus is to pass the leadership test, and ragnar's rule only mention launching assaults. as ragnar and his unit would be the assaulted not the assaulters they are there for not assaulting and don't get the bonus. I am sure this will be something that gets FAQed, when ever that comes out.

And when old-style bloodclaws counterattacked they didnt actually assault, but they still got the +2 bonus.

Ragnar gains bonus attacks "as if they too had assaulted".

When Ragnar assaults, he gains +d3 attacks, as does his squad.

Thus.... with a leadership test they all gain +d3 attacks.

once i posted to this i knew this would happen, it is one of the main reason i try to not post to things like this. i simply am stating my opinion on how i feel it is worded. that is it.

i understand the way the old blood claws were worded, just see my sig. though i feel the the wording in the current codex of "launching an assault" (from "when they charge" in the last codex) was used to try and avoid it from being used that way.

my opinion that is it take it, and just trying to make it clearer.

I always assumed that a unit got its special rules for assaulting when using counter-attack, since the wording inthe rulebook states that they get the +1 bonus for attacking =exactly as if they had assaulted this turn=. Therefore the +1 would become D3 and Furious Charge would still come into effect.

Fair enough, and I can respect that. I dont use Ragnar so its not a huge thing for me anyways :).

Hopefully this one is covered in the FAQ.
