Vash113
Yesterday my brother and I decided to play a game of 40k, now that we have enough space... for a change. His Orks are currently at 1460-ish points so that's the size we picked, and I decided to take an infantry heavy Space Wolves army, which came out to: Wolf Lord -Saga of the Bear, Frost Blade, Runic Armor, Belt of Russ 5 Wolf Guard -Power Fist, Power Weapon 9 Grey Hunters + Wolf Guard -Power Fists x2, Melta Gun 9 Grey Hunters + Wolf Guard -Power Fists x2, Melta Gun 15 Blood Claws + Wolf Guard -Power Fist, Power Weapon, Flamers x2 15 Blood Claws + Wolf Guard -Power Fist, Power Weapon, Flamers x2 5 Long Fangs -Lascannon x2, Heavy Bolters x2 My Brothers Ork list came out to: Warboss -Power Klaw, Cybork Body, Eavy Armor Warboss -Power Klaw, Cybork Body, Eavy Armor 5 Nobs -Eavy Armor Trukk -Extra Armor, Red Paint Job 5 Nobs -Eavy Armor Trukk -Extra Armor, Red Paint Job 19 Slugga Boyz + Nob -Power Klaw, Big Shootas x2 19 Slugga Boyz + Nob -Power Klaw, Big Shootas x2 30 Grots + 3 Runtherds -Grot Prod 2 Warbikers + Warbiker Nob -Power Klaw 3 Deffkoptas -Rockit Launcha's x3, Buzz Saw 2 Wartrakk's So 63 Space Wolves vs 88 Orks. The game was basically over by turn 3, both sides just running straight at each other and tearing each other apart in a frenzy of destruction, combat commenced on the top of Turn 2 with the Orks hitting the Space Wolf lines, the Space Wolves hitting back and the Orks dying, bottom of Turn 2 the Space Wolves counter-charged and sent the surviving Orks either packing or to Gork and Mork. Turn 3 the Ork vehicles fought back out of spite, bottom of Turn 3 the Space Wolves chased down and destroyed the Ork vehicles. Basically watching the game was like watching a fantasy battle on fast forward, and it played out almost exactly the same way, but it was a heck of a lot of fun. The game ended with a Warboss, nob and 3 slugga boys running off the field and every last remaining greenskin getting torn up. But the Space Wolves lost 32/63 Marines to the Orks so it was a hard fought victory. The Orks getting the first charge was ugly, but with Waagh granting them fleet, they had up to an 18" charge range and that was hard to stop. The Blood Claws fought well on the offense but got butchered on the defense, the Grey Hunters proving more reliable sending the Orks packing on the defense and hammering them hard on the offense. The best part of the game was my Wolf Lord charging into combat with the Warboss and killing him single handed. A solid victory to the Wolves and some glorious kills as well. The pics showcase the fight quite... amusingly, here ya go: Space Wolf Deployment http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m307/Vash113/Battle%20Report%20Pics/IMG_0867.jpg Ork Deployment http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m307/Vash113/Battle%20Report%20Pics/IMG_0871.jpg http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m307/Vash113/Battle%20Report%20Pics/IMG_0873.jpg Turn 1 http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m307/Vash113/Battle%20Report%20Pics/IMG_0875.jpg Turn 2 http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m307/Vash113/Battle%20Report%20Pics/IMG_0876.jpg http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m307/Vash113/Battle%20Report%20Pics/IMG_0879.jpg http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m307/Vash113/Battle%20Report%20Pics/IMG_0880-1.jpg End of Top of Turn 2 http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m307/Vash113/Battle%20Report%20Pics/IMG_0883-1.jpg Bottom of Turn 2 http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m307/Vash113/Battle%20Report%20Pics/IMG_0885.jpg http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m307/Vash113/Battle%20Report%20Pics/IMG_0884-1.jpg http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m307/Vash113/Battle%20Report%20Pics/IMG_0887.jpg By that time the game was pretty much over, with just the two trukks and wartrakks left and those went down with only 3 cassualties. stinkenheim
wolves vs orks is a great game... so much carngae, so many attacks, so much fun ^_^ by far my favourite opponent, although i think 'nids would be up there if only i knew someone else who played them. sounds like a good, fun game there vash, as you say hard fought but then you wouldn't want it any other way would you :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/186031-i-played-my-first-game-of-fantasy/#findComment-2199750 Share on other sites

Yea a good CC nid army would be nuts, luckily I got some flamers to help thin the numbers hehe. sounds like a good, fun game there vash, as you say hard fought but then you wouldn't want it any other way would you :D Absolutely not, if there's no challenge what's the point? :P wait i am confused... what does this have to do with fantasy? Well it's unfortunate that you ask that question, because your answer is in my first post. I'll be merciful and show you the answer myself from my first post: Basically watching the game was like watching a fantasy battle on fast forward, and it played out almost exactly the same way, but it was a heck of a lot of fun. If you've never seen a game of Fantasy I could perhaps see the confusion, so let me be clear, many Fantasy games revolve around limited exchange of missile fire while one or both sides march straight at each other, rip each other to pieces in various close combats and then one side or the other is either killed or retreats, reforms and they do it again. Which is basically what happened in this game even though it was a 40k battle, both armies were primarily close combat oriented and simply rushed at each other and got into hand to hand combat as fast as possible with battle lines remeniscent of Medieval armies clashing. It was great. Glad you liked it, sometimes it's fun to just chill and play a straightforward, no-nonsense game without any frills... sometimes. <_< Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/186031-i-played-my-first-game-of-fantasy/#findComment-2200356 Share on other sites
