Havocs of the same. All Havocs/heavy weapons specialists in the army get Bleached Bone © helmets. Make sure to check out the eyes on the heavy-bolter Havoc. I'm really pleased with how they turned out, and I'm thinking of making it a standard thing for all unhelmeted troops in the army. I'm thinking it's a mutation that allows the Marines better night vision.

And now, all the members of the warband that I've finished. This rounds off at about 490 points, counting the Rhino.

Yeah, I know I need to finish some more Raptors, and to organize my Troops better. Haven't had much time to paint lately. Here's also the color scheme of Nox Aeternia, courtesy of Bolter and Chainsword's own Enemy Recognition Army Painter (linked below), because I know it's hard to see in the pictures.

Nox Aeternia was originally a splinter chapter of the Raven Guard named the Night Warders. They continued the tradition of infantry-based, mobile strike teams, with a higher-than-usual number of Assault Marines (comprising an entire company). However, after hundreds of years of serving the Imperium with little or no reward or even gratitude, Kahol led a rebellion against chapter command, resulting the destruction of the loyalists and Kahol and his followers fleeing the wrath of the Imperium. Now they are a small (less than half a full chapter's worth of Marines) warband that is working their way towards the Eye of Terror.

The main color scheme (Liche Purple © and Bleached Bone © trim) is supposed to be representative of a twilight sky with a moon (the idea of the Night Warders being that they protected the Imperium from the metaphorical "night" - xenos, heretics, mutants, etc - of the galaxy). Nox Aeternia, when they went evil, decided to keep the colors as representing their fall and how they how fight FOR the "night", instead of against it.

Foot troops start off with a bronze-level color scheme, while line officers (sergeants and others who actually lead on the battlefield) get silver markings, while command-level officers (such as Kahol) are upgraded to golden trim.

They load fine on my computer... Hardly worth it to have a 200-kb picture with no detail. These are meant to be zoomed in on.

Anyway, I should have some time to paint pretty soon, so hopefully I can upload some (smaller) pictures of a SIX-HUNDRED point army. :)

There's a special cadre of Nox Aeternia called "The Black Ones" (a.k.a., Chosen) who serve as Kahol's personal bodyguard and command officers. I have one painted, and I really like the way I modeled it, but I'm not sure I like how I did his colors. I'll post a picture of him in the next round.

Wow that is one big piece of arrogance right there. Did it never cross your mind that there are people who don't have a great and fast connection like you do?

Seriously, I don't want to start a flame war, but that is just a horrible way of thinking about posting pictures here.

Even if you crop your pictures with Paint, you will loose practically no detail from the resolution you have and, say, 640*480. If you use Gimp or Photoshop, you won't loose any detail at all.

You can even use this great online resizer! I used it a lot, no loss of detail what so ever.

And to be honest, you color scheme is nice and you did take the time and paint every detail on the minis, but you have no highlights and no noticable conversions on any model. There is really nothing to zoom in on.

And even if you don't want to change the overall size of the pics, there is a lot of unnecessary plants and background that you can crop out. Especially on the Sorceror, where there is only about 1/4 mini and the rest background.

My advice:

- Thin your paints with water and do several layers of paint

- Give your metallics a wash with black or brown to add some shadows

- do highlights on the armor and trim

- make your pictures inside, with good lighting from daylight or true light lamps, with the minis in front of a white sheet of paper or something

- drop the attitude and resize, crop your pictures, that's just common courtesy

I like the color scheme and back story. I agree that maybe a GW wash would help with some detail.

While not as passionate as CTG, cropping the pics, to remove the stuff we won't look at, would probably help for viewers who are having trouble with bandwidth. I find that their bytes size will drop dramatically, w/out the sacrifice in detail.

I dd a wash on one of them (Devlan Mud ©), but that was too dark, and I prefer to let real lighting cast shadows on its own. I'm not painting to win Golden Daemons, anyway - these are my "play-quality" models. I haven't the time or the money or the skill/experience to go all-out in every single model. Someday, yes, it would be nice to produce a piece that could at least enter the competition for a Golden Daemon, but this is what I have so far.

Cathar the "Great", I'm going to choose to ignore your choice of phrasing. When I said "They load fine on my computer", that was me saying I wasn't aware that it was a problem for others. I had to transfer the pictures from the camera to another, much, much slower computer first, and it still loaded fine on that one - though, admittedly, I didn't need to go on the internet for that. (And if you bring up the issue, then yes - I spent all my money on a fast computer, instead of miniature paints. Apologies for my choice of priorities.) I'm not going to be taking any more pictures until I have something more to add, but when I do, I will try to make sure they are reasonable.

My major beef with these models is the fact that I put waaaaaaay too much Purity Seal ©/paint sealant on them, which really dulled the colors. You should've seen the right half of one of the bolter CSMs before I retouched it... *shudders* I think all in all, however, I did pretty well for a casual painter in his first batch.
